This will put a grin on your face when you see it! It's hard to tell the size until you see it in person, it is compact. Once it's out of the shop maybe Rico will take a pic next to his F150.

Thanks.

Could not get it close to the truck as there is too much stuff in the way ::)

BUT I did get a picture next to my buggy!

That's full pimpin' Rico. Those are the huge 31's like on your YJ back in the day. Post a pic of the YJ from back then, I am sure one of the photoshoppers in here would be able to do a side-by-side pic.

Wow. Thats a long time ago! BigJeep rockin' the 31's and a 2 1/2" Rancho lift! That was considered big then guys like Chad and Andrew with the 33's were CRAZY HUGE! Time's were simpler then ;)

The brake master Hawkes gave me. I had to make a bracket/pedal similar to the old dune buggy's style.

Its mounted a bit lower than I wanted but will keep it for now.

Not too much progress lately. Trying to sort out fuel delivery problems as well as figure out the steering. Turned out the carb was covered in green death and the needle valves (jets) looked like a sea urchin! Nasty!

As for the steering. First let me say I HOPE this holds together! ::)

Since I have never heard of someone running full hydro off a 4 wheeler before I had to get a bit creative ;D

Took the pull start off and modified the input wheel shaft thingy ;) to accept a V belt pulley.

Then I made a mounting bracket...... Which of course didn't work the first time.... ::) So on the third attempt I came up with this...

Bracket installed...

Lower pulley installed

Then I installed the modified XJ pump. I could not find the right pump with a V pulley so I machined the center from a serp pulley and welded a pulley I bought from PA.

Then I installed the hoses. All that's left is to make a oil tank.

Its the little things that are sooooo darn time consuming and FREAKING annoying! >:(

hey rico, you weld the front and rear diffs? musta missed it if you did. but with the light weight and approx. 25 hp and half warn 31s you could prolly get away with the front locked. think your buggys gonna b able to follow it? lol

It will be interesting to see how the engine handles the load at idle. Worst case I suppose you could add a bicycle shifter to increase rpm while crawling and steering.

Diffs not welded yet!

Hell! I've already spent more time on this buggy than my own so it probably will work better than mine!

I was wondering the same thing. I can always turn up the idle I suppose....
