Tube Fenders

So this is what i started with......

After some fitting and pondering i came up with this..

Now to take them back off and finish all the welds, then skin them in checker plate i believe.

Looks good, but won't if you checker plate it, imo. Not sure if you can get checker plate thinner than 3/16", which is pretty thick/heavy for what you are doing. I'd use 16G. just an opinion on looks....not function.

Using anything thicker than the fenders is going to be stronger than them, and crush them when you rub on stuff, so you might as well not go too thick, you don't need it. Like if you were thinking 'thicker is better', in this case even 16G is going to be stronger than the fenders.

Nice thinking on the mounting, no curves.

Ya. I thought about it today and opted with the 16guage. Try to keep the weight down as well. Gonna try to skin one tonight if I get a chance.

Should have gone with tread brite if you were going with checker plate. BLING! Would be light... could always hit them with a coat of paint/rockerguard too.

No really, I would love to see how you did it as I am looking to do the same to mine and actually incorporate them into an exo-skeleton. I was thinking the same construction, just a bit heavier pipe. I like how you did not use the checker plate. That will just hold the mud and then some idiot will think that can walk on it (crunch)!
