I need a little tech with my questions - I have a full size 98 1/2ton 4.3/auto 2wd. Do i have a 10 bolt or a 12 bolt?
I tow.....I would like deeper gears and a heavier rear end. Mine feel like 2.73:1 or something, its geared really high.
Will that semi-float 14Bolt bolt right in?
What is the wheel pattern? I think i only have the 5 bolt pattern, but i'm willing to run with different rims in back.
Would i need a different d-shaft? probably a shorter one?
where are you? (you can add that to your profile in the top menu, its helps sell stuff)
thx!

You have the 10 bolt, they stopped using the 12 bolts in the late 80's (correct me here if necessary). 10 bolts are the d35 of the gm world, the spiders go, the hardening wears off the axle splines and leave you stranded. Some people have no probles, some have lots.
14 bolt is 8 bolt wheels, Should be able to go to a JY and pick up a driveshaft if there are different lengths, the joint at the DS would be larger.
Brad is in Truro.

12 bolt is from an 81 blazer 1 10 bolt is from an 85 1 10 bolt is from a 95 1500 4x4 with 3.73 limited slip 14 semi are 8 bolt or six. half ton heavy and some light 3/4 tons have six bolt 14 bolts where most 3/4 have 8 bolt wheel. 3/4 and 1/2 ton have same rear shaft 10 bolt or 14 bolt

This is to Creepy , your best bet will be to find a heavy 1/2 ton they have the 6 bolt wheel with the semi floating 14 bolt. you will have better luck finding a lower ratio in them as a 10 bolt. they will bolt right on the only difference is you need e brake cables for the 14 bolt so if you find one try to get them as well. your rear drive shaft will work as well. Your truck more than likely has 3.42 . if you find one with 4.10 and you dont want it let me know i need one lol.

i still have the front hubs and spindles for a 90 3/4 ton 2x4 they have the 6 bolt pattern if you convert to a 14 bolt i believe they use the same balljoints from 1/2 to 1 ton 2 or four wheel drive
