 Bash Buggy
« Thread Started on Nov 8, 2010, 7:45pm »

I was having a hard time this summer to stay in the rock pile. The racing was a hell of a good time, but after this years Valley Crawl I was all pumped up for the rocks again. Then I went a did some thing stupid...Steve was all excited about the rocks and wanted a buggy. He was cleaning his garage out and was going to rip the cab off his truggy and tube it out. Then I made the mistake of saying "I'll sell ya a chassis".I thought he would tell me that i was nuts!!!,but he came back with"how much will this much money buy me".I told him and, he said strip it. FAWK

Anyhow I was sitting around last weekend noticed I had some pipe and a bender.I started bending, didn't really have much of an idea of what I wanted for a chassis.I had a rough idea of what worked and what I wanted. As for looks,I had no idea.

Any how after 9 days I had a pretty good start.

Picked up a set of the Radfo air shocks from TMR. Nice lookin shock

Any how we'll see what the next 9 days bring ;)

Thanks guys, buggy is still going to V6 powered ,just not sure which motor I'm going to use.The propane motor is fun,but its kinda a PITA.Was thinking about putting a stock cpi 4.3 in it.Something I can take out and abuse, over and and over.. ;D

Whoa, the main chassis bars over/under the engine are pretty sick. top one has 6 bends and 2 planes? (3 rotations?)

Bendtech and Tubeshark? I did a 6-bend on the Toy with no rotations, it was tough enough to keep square! Sooo....how far out was it? Just come in with a ratchet strap? (I've learned there WILL be forceful tweaking of the multiplane bend pieces to get 'em tacked in place, are you having the same experience?)

Looks good, similar to the last one.

No tubeshark or bendteck, just some head scratching and a PA kinker... ;)It wasn't out that much, might of had a 1" of twist in it and came in a couple inch's to narrow.Nothin a little pullin and yankin didn't fix.I made up an angle gauge out of a couple pieces of 1" flat bar. That way I can adjust the bends as I'm bending them.

This chassis is a bit different than the last. The last one was the easiest to make. This chassis just took a bit more fartin around to get it started. With this one I'm trying to make the belly as narrow as possible. The belly of this chassis is more like the buggy I built 4 years ago for Terry(one with the jeep hood). The belly of that buggy was only 25" wide, and it would just slip between stuff that other rigs would get huge up on.

Frig, no bendtech or 'real' bender? That's crazy man, you are so damn impressive with such basic tools. that hood bar. Jeez. I don't think a lot of people get what went into that bar.

you could fawk that up 20 different ways. :-X
