i had a set of up graded birfs from TG they lasted 15 hours some where around the green mile it broke lol

So, after the shakedown run of the ol cj, had a problem with the plasma cut wheels....

the center spun in the hoop and was on its way to taking out the valve stem. Anyways,
Adam took them over to his buddys shop and smoked em right out!

all welded up nice

Next was a whole bunch of gussets, 40 of em all together!

Ended up with evil creepy turbines!

the ol 360 was getting pretty hot pretty fast. Drove it from the back of the garage to the front
and it was a little over 100 c. Figured a $8 thermostat couldn't hurt. Popped the housing off and
found this

just a little bog water. i flushed out the motor, put the new tstat in, some new belts, set the
timing....... it is running much cooler now! it's ready to head to the jam...... just gotta figure out
why it's backfiring while driving.....

Lucky it was free! hahahahahahah I need a bigger welder. Maybe Santa will get me one.

Valley Crawl put a log thru the rad, I was stalking around the woods looking for any bit of water to get it out. there might be tadpoles in there!

As discussed on the phone....check if vac. advance is working. line off, check with timing light. line on, check with timing light. Should see 5-8degrees. That's the plate under the rotor button. Then check centrifigal advance, at higher rpm. that's the weights under the plate, with springs attached.

Then if no issues, pull dist and check the drive gear on bottom. I'll try to find that old thread from when i put a used one on.

Tech question for lurkers - is a Ford dist going to have the same drive gear? Al's got as new one there.

Ya some crazy guy recommended Jan put some gussets in there back in the day. Jan told that guy it would be fine. HAHA. I todda so, I todda so lol Nice Job Al

haha thanks. as you can see from the pics, Adammac did all the welding.... thanks man! Jan, dead tadpoles jammed up the thermostat! lol thanks for the tips, i'll get er runnin right on the weekend!

I've only seen reports about this happening to truck tires and equipment tires but I won't do it.

as long as the valve step is taken out or the bead is broken down its ok to weld to the wheel, but shouldn't anyway...

There's be reports of the tire resetting the bead when the reaction starts.It happens fast,but then sometimes it takes a while for the reaction to start.Seen a vid ,that they said the tire went boom 48 hours later.

pyrolosis..... yikes. ok, we won't do that again then, even with the valve stems removed. we did have the tires off before welding the centers in, but not the gussets.
