 Southern buggy build update
« Thread Started on Oct 20, 2011, 7:01am »

I was at tim hortons (Bedford) last night having a coffee with my son and had a short chat with one member who asked how the buggy was coming along.

After talking with him I decided that I would come back on the board and give everyone an update on the build.

I'm not sure where I stopped posting but the buggy is almost complete. Just needs to come apart for paint. I have had several runs in Bedford and in some rocks in CB an I think I have most of the mechanical issues sorted out.

This is what it looks like now

Got it weighted (3386 lbs) thanks to Andy

Thats around 1000lbs less than the rat. Crawls way better than the old buggy and the extra power really allows me to bump it over obstacles. The power also makes it really fast. In low range she is quick. Not far off the acceleration of the corvette off the line. The only real issue with launching is "excessive" body roll that makes it a handfull when the skinny pedal is on the floor.

Over the next few weeks she is coming apart for paint. Haven't decided on a color yet.
(suggestions??)

Trailer is great. I had to make some modifications to fit the buggy in.

I have added a few things to make it more of a shop

I didn't like the white wheels so i replaced them with gray

Ive started to put all the spare parts, and accessories into the cabinets and installed wiring for lights and a power bar for running tools etc.

I want to see it climbing something or some flex shots to see the suspension working. Looks wicked Dean. I like the front view of the crank pully and how the tank is mounted.

How is the brake working? Have you gotten it hot yet?

and simply being nosey - where did you go in Cape Breton? (I'm from Sydney)

Ran some rocks just outside arichat.

Pinion brake works well combined with engine brake.
