I was just reading the jeep wave scoring:
The Modifying Sub-Categories (MSCs): (What you do with it) MSC Guidelines: 1. MSCs must be considered during all Jeep encounters, and wave patterns must be adjusted accordingly. 2. MSC 5 is the median - the accepted norm. 3. MSCs from 1 through 4 will increase score as listed. 4. MSCs 6 and 7 will decrease score as listed. MSC 1: Top off; vehicle, driver, and all occupants covered with mud: +30 MSC 2: Top partially off; vehicle and some occupants covered with Mud: +20 MSC 3: Top on; vehicle covered with mud: +10 MSC 4: Top off during snow, sleet, hail, or heavy rain: +5
Who ever formulated this and appointed the score of +5 for the MSC4 was not with us this weekend for the topless run. At some point of time, I would had scored it at +40.

My general rule is simple "If your in a Jeep you deserve a wave. If you don't return it you deserve the bird!" Respect your elders, oldest Jeeps wave last (no matter if they have a roof or not.) Models means nothing to me, (CJ,FC, Wagon, Truck, YJ) if it is old and you spend hours working on it just to keep the Jeep Tradition alive I don't care if it is clean or dirty, stock or modified you deserve my wave!!

Man I send a wave to everyone I see in a jeep and I dont get sh*t back haha. I do the same without any response. I get more waves when I am driving the Honda than the XJ. I guess the people are stuck up down the Prospect Hwy where I live, lol.

I use to wave to any and all jeeps. Most CJ/YJ/TJ wave back other than those that own a jeep but don't subscribe to the "its a jeep thing" thing. No other types of jeeps ever waved (other than Rob - 102hwy) back so I gave up. I have even passed jeeps (YJ/TJ's) on the 102/118 hwy and exchanged waves. ;D Thanks you made my drive better.

When I'm drivin the 5, I usually wait to see if the other Jeep will wave first, but most of the time I get no wave. Maybe everyone should drive an old Jeep before they drive their new one, then they'd understand why they should wave first! If you want to get waves, drive a bike, very rare another rider doesn't wave. Same is true for old vehicles.
