Here we go again Uploaded with ImageShack.usThe tear down begins. Took the axles apart to check condition of my front custom Dutchman shafts and re-gear to 5:13's. Look as good as new. Uploaded with ImageShack.usMay as well join the crowd and install the 35 spline outers. Been hanging on to these for a while anyway Beefy. Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usOut with the old. Gonna miss this big ass shifter ;D ;D Uploaded with ImageShack.usAll this started with the idea of changing transmissions then along came the "may as wells".....

I sure hope this is worth it! Uploaded with ImageShack.usPulled out the 4 speed this evening and compared it to the auto. It would be about the same length as the manual with the doubler/300.

Mobile again. Drove it out of the shop today. Added another "A" pillar and cross brace to the rear. Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usAlso moved the battery to behind the seats and moved the tank to behind the seats and storage box to back to centralize weight better. Uploaded with ImageShack.usThen added a new grab handle for passenger. Uploaded with ImageShack.usSure hope it's worth it. With the auto its no where close to the low gearing I had with the NP435! Which is why I switched to the 5:13's in the axles. I will say after moving it around the around I'm a bit concerned. Will have to wait and see when I take it out.

you had too much gearing before so with the auto you'll be ok.

Looking good, You may miss the stick but the auto is far better for rock crawling, you will like the auto very much.

gonna have it down for the may 4th run? That's the plan. If testing goes well tomorrow I should be there. But if not then it depends if I can get a different auto or will put the 4 speed back in. Yeah Darren. Everyone keeps telling me I will love the auto but funny thing in the 20 years of so of wheeling I have never driven an auto off-road before! So I have high hopes!!

Great weekend of wheelin with Andy, Jim, Everett and Darren. First impressions of an auto.... I miss compression braking. Was weird going down hills and having to use the brakes. Not having to use a clutch was amusing. What the heck are you supposed to do with that spare foot? LOL Since this was my first time rebuilding an auto I was pleased that it worked really well. Didn't slip or anything. Super easy and quick to shift drive to reverse with the modified pro-stick. Neglected to hook up the modulator so will have to wait for other gears other than first! However the engine was still having lots of problems
