Hey folks,
Looking like tonight I may have the pleasure of towing this jeep out of my yard.... I have a a Tow Dolly - and I had intended to just slap the transfer case in to neutral and have the rear wheels on the ground... any issues with this? Everything is good and tight - this Jeep is going on the road - it will hopefully drive home... I would much rather not remove the drive shaft if I don't have to.

As long as you have the transfer case in neutral you will be fine. I've flat towed mine like that different times.

I know for a fact putting the transfer case in neutral that it will coast around/allow me to pull it around with the tractor - so I figured I'd be fine but just wanted someone else to share the blame with should anything go wrong

When the t-case is in neutral, the front and rear outputs are not connected, and the oil pump runs off the rear output. Put the t-case in neutral and tow on the dolly all you want.

how did you make out with this because I have done itwith xj's mj's and yj's chev's ford'sand had no problem with the front skins on a dolly and just putting the t-case in neutral. that way the drivelines are free turning. they only way this will not work is if the t-case has a proble and is not shifting into neutral, or the front is not shifting but even if that was the case the rear is still free from the t-case and should turn free. I am intrested in know who you made out

I haven't actually done this yet - my trip got canceled due to the other party having something more pressing he had to do - Will possibly get to this tonight - time will tell...
I also have an alternator on a Pathfinder to fix tonight... didn't like being hooked up backwards...

I still have yet to do this - we tried the other night however the straps which go over the tires are too small... we tried letting air out of the tires and still no dice.
I'm not sure what the stock tires size is on these - I have yet to look, however would anyone happen to know if the straps from Princess Auto will fit or not? I intend to go look at them after work, however if someone can help save my time (and money) that'd be great.

One will not fit because it obviously broke at one point and time and was fixed - the other will fit over the tire, but not properly.
I have an old used dolly I got from a neighbor - The straps fit everything (cars) I have tried thus far, but these tires are just plain too big.

find a set of early 90's ranger rims, 2wd's had 205/70 15's, the straps should fit over them

I never even thought of putting smaller tires on the front What else shares the same bolt pattern & will fit? I have a set of rims/tires off a Grand Prix...

i'm not sure. most of the chev stuff is different. even if you had to mount a pair of small tires on your rims, if thier on the dolly, you won't need them ballenced. so it's only $15-20 to swap a pair of tires
