For those with no previous off-road experience, our knowledgeable Trail Guides will provide you with the training and instructions you'll need to feel comfortable tackling the trails. If you happen to be an experienced wheeler we have made sure that there are enough exciting and challenging trails to put your skills to the test. If you’re new to the NSJC Jamboree experience, welcome! For those who have attended other Jamboree type events in the past, welcome to ours! An exhilarating weekend of off-roading with other Jeep owners lies ahead.
You are about to hit some of the best trails Canada has to offer... do you think you'reready? Consider the following questions before starting out.
• Exactly how does a Jeep's 4x4 system work? (i.e.: what does the differential really do?)
• What is so unique about a Jeep's transfer case? Why do I need it?
Let's face it. Even though a Jeep is built to handle just about anything, sometimes the drivers are not. In order to get the most out of your Jeep--and The NSJC Jamboree--there are some basics that everyone needs to know. Some of the situations that you may encounter offroad require that you have a certain amount of knowledge of driving your Jeep off-road. Our Trail Guides will teach you how to be safe on the trails and give you the confidence you need to have a great time!
What to Bring to NSJC Jamboree?
Your registration fee covers camping accommodations at base camp, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday, as well as breakfast on Sunday, so the only food you will need to bring are trail snacks and beverages. You will have to bring the required amenities for camping like tents, sleeping bags etc. Use the following check list to make sure you come prepared.
Must haves for your Jeep
.. Insurance. Required safety equipment (see Vehicle Registration Inspection information)
.. Driver's license
.. CB radio
.. Full tank of gas
Suggested for your comfort and convenience
.. Cooler for storing your lunch, trail snacks and favorite NON-ALCOHOLIC beverages.
.. First aid kit
.. Extra clothing to wear on the trails, as you could get wet and/or dirty
.. Rain gear (waterproof) including rubber boots.
.. Comfortable hiking boots & absorbent work socks (an extra pair would be wise too!)
.. Hat
.. Work gloves (just in case you get stuck)
.. Lots of good insect repellent. Sometimes the bugs are as tough as the trails!
.. Sunscreen
.. Warm clothing for the nights
.. Recreational equipment (ball gloves, Frisbee, football, etc)
Don’t forget your camera and lots of film (if you still use the film type. If not, then lots of batteries)
If you’ve got one, a video camera is a fantastic idea!
Vehicle Admission Requirements
In order to ensure that all registered vehicles are trail-safe, please note that each Jeep will be inspected by qualified mechanics prior to being admitted on the trails. Any Jeep that does not meet the mandatory requirements will not be permitted on the trails. Remember- safety first! Following inspection, each driver will receive a recommendation for the trail ratings that will be most suitable for their vehicle. Please note: should you decide to attempt a trail that is deemed inappropriate for your vehicle, you will be responsible for removing your vehicle from the trail should it incur any mechanical problems. In all other cases we will offer assistance in removing your vehicle. Remember that this is an off-road weekend; the NSJC does not assume responsibility for any body or vehicle damage incurred on the trails.
Your vehicle will be inspected for the following:
Mandatory:
.. FRONT TOW HOOKS - Frame mounted with Grade 8 bolts as per Mopar specifications.
.. Operational seatbelts for each person in the vehicle
.. Adequate oil and fluid levels
.. Full-sized spare tire. (If your tire goes flat, and you only have a safety spare, your
vehicle may not be able to make it off the trail.)
.. Skid plates covering the gas tank and transfer case
.. CB Radio
NOTE: If you are driving a Jeep with running boards and mud flaps we strongly suggest you remove them prior to the Jamboree.
Recommended:
.. Rear tow hooks
.. Heavy-duty nylon tow straps (20,000 pound minimum) with looped ends
.. Optional skid plates
Hope to see you all at the NSJC Jamboree.
