really? might be something to look into then if he didn't harden it(I can't remember)..
Rico ws also running a v8 in front of a bull low tranny. so there is ALOT more gearing there then behind the Ax-15 and 4L. but I agree, best to get it done and not have to worry about it..

I don't remember either Reg, but I think I sent it straight to you. Place that does them is Precision Enterprises in Mt Uniacke. It's a tough material even after you get past the hardening, so you could get lucky, but I agree with Jan, should be hardened.
Problem with hardening it with a torch is you could get it too hard and brittle - snap!
Rico's was the mainshaft in the trans that he didn't get hardened the first time. Striped the splines right off it.

ah, trans shaft, not a spud. For more bad memories - I think it was on the street pulling away from a light, not in deep reduction 1st while wheeling.

Not heat treated and in rush hour traffic on Bayers Road.... Can't figure out why all those nice people were waving at me with one finger as I was pushing the jeep up the street.... Not a spline left on the trans output. However I wasn't gentle on it the previous weekend (5000 rpm clutch drops with the 5.0HO ;D) so I think it was a culmination of events that finally done it in. I would HIGHLY recommend heat treating any new cut splines. All the stuff Rue and Alan made for me after that were heat treated. A whole lot less costly!

I'd also be interested in a price Alan; I was thinking of a 4:1 kit for the D300 but this may be more affordable I almost made it to your shop last week but I did find Bill's
