the TP paper filters are for after all the other driers. They will not work effectively as a mechanical seperator like a cup filter, they will riun the filter immediately if wet air gets at them. they are last defense, fine filtering, not primary filters.
The replacements look like TP, I'd imagine wet toilet paper doesn't flow air too well, hence your machine working like garbage. If someone actually put TP in your filter, I don't know what to say. lol

It works fine when the paper isn't saturated Jan - seriously. I don't run a table like you do, I just use it for floors/misc light stuff. I wouldn't in a month likely do what you do in a day.

a water separator runs about $150 depending on the size and has a metal screen (looks like a brush inside) that captures moisture the smallest refridgerated air dryer runs $700-800 and handles 10cfm

I believe it would work for a bit, but by not having rough pre-filters, and a moisture problem - the TP will get wet very fast, expand, lose any airflow it could manage to muster. Just the humidity would get it i think, just sitting there. Anyway, we don't have to have too big a discussion about TP in your filter unit being the cat's ass, I know that's not what you are saying. I'd prefer to set up a system that didn't have to paying $$ to keep it dry. Use the throw-away filters as the very end as a last-chance to get moisture out. For hand-held units at a home shop, its very easy to make a water trap out of pipe, 1.5"sch40 a couple of feet long is good enough. put it far away from the compressor, have a cup filter, drain them religiously - THEN the paper element filter, and you should not go thru a ton of paper and get quality cuts and much better tip life from the plasma.

Wonder if the brush shape is using that technology, or something fancy? I guess its time for some pics in this thread. I'll show you guys my current air system, and where I'm going with it. MFR has sourced a coil and the beer fridge is inline with the air line run to the table. ;D Might gear that up, but I know where I can make improvements b4 getting into that, i'll show you.

Beer and moist, yes. ;D compressor and big tube thing. I want the comp. head to go to the bottom of the tube as a primary seperator, using surface area and the cold door draft to condensate out the oil/water. Then to the compressor tank. I call it the MkI DeltaT. (Its comp/tank/tube now.) Note the milage gained by giving me free stickers. ;D Will have to run this compressor head output line to the bottom of the tube, force the hot air up thru the cold tube and internal surface plates. tube dump Nice filter/regulator unit from Motion. $120 iirc. run to the back wall, above the fridge. This system would have been impossible to afford without the gracious help of Big6. Thank you again kind Sir for all your help. PA dessicant drier with cup filter after to catch particulate from the drier. Good stuff. This was $120. Should get 3 fills, but don't know how long it lasts yet, i'm on the first fill. mad scientisting Sooo, after all that, i'll probably install a paper filter at the plasma for good measure too. Paper will be the last last last resort, not the primary water trap. BIG PS: All this is utterly useless unless you drain everything everytime you go to use the air system!!!!!! Start at the compressor and work towards the plasma or whatever. If you start at the tool end, you will draw all the moisture in the system to your tool!!! Gotta make my lunch for work...but there's some pics to talk about later. pss: I'm going to leave my compressor on tonight (it will cycle a bit due to slow leak in system) Its dry now, I will post a pic of how much water you get overnight.

Motion Industries is an industrial supply house. Itsakeeper who posted just above is a sales guy for them. The dessicant came from one of his competitors, who he kindly referenced me to since it would be on their shelf. I forget their name. It was in Burnside, but any paint shop should be able to get them.
the yellow tube came from PA, $40 on sale I think, and I put the good dessicant in that

you are breaking up. lol repeat?
the pa stuff lasted until water started coming out the drier dump. it should stay dry. lasted a few months or so, but it was winter. spring/warm/wet fawked it. And the vapor from the drier when you dump is very corrosive! rusted the shit out of some steel close by. with the good dessicant, there is nothing coming out. wet coming out the drier means the dessicant is saturated and no longer functioning.

I'll check on the topring part no.; think I can get that now that I know what I am looking for and I think the regulator has 1/2" lines ? thus the $120; 1/4" would be around $40-50

looks like the desicant would be $100 + freight so the price wasn't that bad
