did some little lathe work and final assembly last night. wound up having to trim the shifter because the adapter-plate wouldn't go on with the clock-ring studs sticking out. There is lots of meat left underneath, its not weakened much. Cut the shift rod flush with the adapter plate, and made this pin to hold it. The threaded portion will be tapped into the adapter plate, and the shift rod was shortened and machined to accept the pin. Like this....KISS principal. The threads are sealed with pipe thread sealant too. 3/8" stub shaft spacer to make up for the spacer/mount plate between the cases. This will make sure the crawl box doesn't jump out of gear, by locking the stub shaft from moving back and forth. Lots of RTV to keep it from seeping, and locktite on all threaded fasteners. The D300 is just sealed as normal, that the front seal you can see there, that will face into the crawl box fluid. The crawl box got RTV all around the outside and has the stock front input seal. i really hope it doesn't leak. So compact!

nice Job Jan. Nothing should leak, I built mine without leaking issues and it's flipped and shifted with cable shifters(so I didn't have to build new shift rails etc). Very clean tho..
I like the integrated mount to combat torque. I made a seperate mount for mine that bolts to the cross member on the side of the d300 to have some leverage against torque. same kiss principle. works well.

It certainly helped.
I've been working on the tow rig while waiting for my dies to exchange. trans went, got it rebuilt, now it needs exaust manifolds. did a ton of maintenance like full brakes and axle seals, gear oil, etc.
I'm glad I have all the major components paid for on the buggy. No way in hell I'm making Jam with it tho, CJ is staying together.
I've been thinking I'm gonna leave the Toy axles in the CJ, and get new housings for the buggy. Then when its ready, steal back the goodies from the CJ.

You mentioned earlier taking the CJ to Jam, I was wondering how you were going to do that. Takes a little pressure off the buggy for those things that take more time than predicted.

Yeah, I didn't expect to spend $X000.00 on the pickup this spring. no biggie. Its more important to have the basics covered than the toys. i may have been able to get the buggy done, but not now. New goal is Valley Crawl. If I get another front housing for mock up, I don't need to take the CJ apart till the last second. I already have a rear housing. Playing it safe, gotta have a running rig to go wheeling, right? i'm not blowing the whole summer with 2 half built/ripped apart rigs.
