there is only one thing that I can think of that would be worth making a big change to. I was told that there were 3 (yes, three) instances during the course of one run in the Mud pit by a certain driver, where lives were greatly put at risk, AND that said person may have been inebriated. I feel the rules should be the same on road or off road. there should be no drinking and driving. I don't feel the need to go into much detail about it, but I feel it is worth mentioning. Breathalyzer. No blow, no go. Does it seem like a PITA? Yes. Would we wish we had done it if someone gets hurt or worse? Absolutely. Sounds like a good idea actually....seems to be a whole bunch of options out there on the market...even keychain ones... www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref%255F%3Dnb%255Fss%255Fgw%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3Dbreathalyzer%2520%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Daps&tag=dylanazzari-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957Would also like to see people keep control of their kids...I had to yell at no less than 6 or 7 of them running back and forth at the end of the pit...some more than once. Granted it wasn't like anyone was getting through that crap, but there were a couple vehicles that came through the other lane. Speaking of mudpit...rocks/surge in the mudpit...I can only assume that was to make it thicker and not be able to get through...sounded horrid and personally I don't think a good choice of additives....Do people go in the pit to break shit? Never a fan of making it so that people had to beat their rigs to hell to get through it and would rather see it thick but passable. The high horse power rigs can get in there and throw their rooster tails (ie: Darren's CJ a few years ago) and those who want to get muddy, but have less chance of breakage to their rigs can do so as well.

the mud pit was dug only 4" and if rock came out they came from the bottom nobody added them in folks , if you are talking your jeep in the pit its at your own risk. I will add a line at the bottom of the waiver form to that effect and will request RCMP assistance for the event of course this will add to the cost.

Mabe we could put each chapter of the club in charge of a trail.. Just to break it up some and to get more people involved in the Jam.... Just a thought. You mean like every chapter should make the monthly run in May a trail clearing run for Jam NOW THERE A CONCEPT.

I know it seems like a lot of money but we always end up with the same amount which only covers the start up costs.
Something that hasn't been mentioned is the tent, which costs several thousand $.
Purchasing suppers does allow us free tenting, if we can the meals, we will have to pay for camping, could be more, could be less.
The late mud pit was a downer and it was the same way last year IIRC. With late trails getting in, slow meals, and the awards I don't see any way around it, unless the awards were held on Sunday, or the mud bog on sunday. Either one might be less well recieved owing to Sunday morning headaches!
Rocks in the pit are a bummer. They are natural to the ground there but I don't think I will be going in again, especially after seeing the damage to Brent's wheels.

There a lot of good ideas out there and we will investigate them all, the first change that we are putting forward is the committee will start in September, it will give us time to get to more of the meat of it all. Now to all of you who are posting it show your interest. I want you to understand that some of the changes you are proposing may affect our Major sponsors and the way they reward their customers we have to consult them also. I will bring the committee findings and format for the 2012 Jam at the AGM in November, judging by this thread there should be a high attendance this years.
Deepest regards Luc Brisson Jam Cochair
PS: Leigh I believe Glenn volunteered to replace you on the committee. 18.10 to late position filled by North Nova

From what I seen jam was a success this year.....great job Luc.
I did not attend for reasons that I won't share in a thread but I am one that thinks the price is very high for a family to go. In no way would I get $600 worth of food/camp ground. I love the jam but I can not see spending that much money JUST to get in. If $200 pays for food and campground why do the passengers have to pay again for the campground. like a family of 3 pay 3x for one site. I am totally for separate billing. I went to the NB fall crawl a couple years ago. The trip up there and 2 nights of camping and they paid for one meal at the end of the crawl was cheaper then our jam. I would also like to see the breakdown of the cost. perhaps then it would justify spending the money. The 2 years that I went we had a serviced lot....Quite frankly I would prefer to pay my own camping fee, We have a camper and in the $200 I have paid for a site.....When I get a serviced lot I am in fact paying yet again for another lot plus one in the upper field that I dont want. I guess all in all I wish we had better control over our money. Let us pick and choose and pay what suits our needs.

They only charge the difference in the price of a tent site and the serviced site when you get a spot with services. So they take into account that you've paid some towards the campground. We came on Wednesday, and it was still only $49 to camp with service all weekend. I found that very reasonable!

you were never charge for a second lot only the difference for the service. and if you recall at the fall crawl you register your jeep and get only one ticket for prize draw and you camp in a private lot with no shower, moreover the meal is hot dog and burger donation can next to the Q. I spend 600.00 that week end and will do it again this fall , and you are right it is cheaper I stop counting my expense around 800.00 and I am not in the prize draw those expense are prior to Jam.

yes we paid $32 last year for 4 nights on a serviced lot. Luc that is great that you can afford it. unfortunately the everyday person with kids/family it can't. I was just hoping to see it go toward a family fun weekend. As for burgers etc in NB it was a blast. But I am glad to see that others are thinking the same as me.

I too am one of those that couldn't go due to cost. for a family of 4 at full price (2x$225+2x$65=$580). To pitch a tent in a crowded, noisy field. Not a justifiable amount for me to spend for a weekend. Don't get me wrong, I would like to attend, but simply cannot afford to. The highlight of the year for many wheelers, the committee should be proud of the job they've done. Keep up the good work and maybe I'll be able to go next year.

How about more than one fire pit for 100+ people and in 2-3 different locations ? Maybe a fire for every ten sites ?

Strange that everyone is concerned with price but very few took advantage of the early bird pricing.
We didn't have the #'s pre-registered and came within days of pulling the plug on the event.

Our daughter is the light of our lives and we already have limited time to watch her grow. Any spare time we have in between working full time and our other life committments are spent with our family and I will not have it any other way. As I stated before, I believe that this thread was started to have a brainstorming session for those who may not be able to participate for whatever reason but who have ideas to share. No one is belittling all the hard work it takes to put this event on and as was mentioned many times, the committee does an amazing job. Unfortunately, I feel that calling people out hinders any desire to participate rahter than encourages it.
