Ok, I have a question for all that have attended the NJSC/JEEP Jam in the past. What makes Jamboree so damn special? I am asking you to go back in your memories and experiences from all of the Jeep/NSJC Jamborees in the past, choose some of your favorite memories, tell us where you were, what you were doing, and , if possible, what aspect of Jamboree enabled the experience. What i am hoping to achieve, is to find out from everyone, what aspects of the Jamboree help to create the "Magic" that we keep coming back for. Negative experiences are welcome as well, as we can learn from them, but please, keep it civilized and no finger pointing. Keep it constructive. Some basic ground rules: 1. Please, no comments like "you should do this instead". just the good/bad experience and what you think made it happen. 2. Please, nothing about costs. any posts not conforming to the ground rules will be removed without explanation.

this was my first jam and the magic for me is putting faces to names from the board, seeing people you only see one a year, and the social enviroment (party). the wheelin is a bonus, and worth every penny.

It's all about the people, from the first time you go and the Trail Guides give you the confidence to do something you didn't think you were capable of, then seeing those same faces years later at the same event. Each year more friends are made as new people attend.
I find it amazing how friendly the Jeep community is, and Jeep type or size doesn't really matter.
The commitment and effort from sponsors who try and outdo the previous year, and are always successful.
I get to spend time with the 2 techs during tech inspection and hear them tell each participant where they are located and if they have any issues to come see them. Same dedication every year.
I read back through some old Jam posts on the board and it's clear the current setup is way better than the way it was previously. The 1st Jam I went to we were spread all over the place in campgrounds and motels.
Since I bring kids I like not having to prepare 3 meals a day. This is a social event for me, I'm not at all set up for camping.

I am set -up for camping, but I'd rather wander and talk to people and look at their rigs than cook and clean up...

Watching some amazing jeepers trail fix rigs when things don't go as planned! It never ceases to amaze me how quickly people offer help, parts, tools and whatever else is needed to get someone back on the trail.

The willingness to help out, no matter what, that's what's most important...helping each other out, on and off the trails, having fun and being safe, and being respectful of others around you... enjoying the sport as it should be enjoyed and learning from all of the experienced ones and helping out the not so experienced! Those are the things that people will remember the most when looking back...

For me it's always been about Family, the Jeep family... the people for the most part are just like that, they are in your your back yard , Seperated by county, Pronvince, and even borders... some times it's years before you see them again... But just like family , it could be days months or years before you see them agian! there is no awkwardness, no feeling out process.. it's just like you saw them yesterday! THATS JAMBOREE FOR ME!

I love getting people who have never driven on rocks to try it out, and the looks on their faces when they can't believe that just drove over 'THAT!'
I like showing that you don't need a big investment rig to do it with, anyone can do it with an old CJ and an angle grinder/little welder. It gives hope. ;D 1084 RTI.
To see people I only see once or every few years, and its like 'old times' right off the bat. Or the "what's your board name?" game with people you haven't met.
I think my favorite days of the whole year are the last few days in my shop at home, when I have 20 different things on the go, rigs all over the place, and people stopping by every hour with their issues, and helping them out with my equipment. When I see all those rigs I helped build on the trails with me, I feel proud.
That's the magic moment for me I guess, being surrounded by rigs with my parts on them in a bunch of rocks, and knowing those guys can count on my stuff not breaking. I'm not a big socialite, i'm a shop hobbitt. So I kinda get my major satisfaction from the performance of the stuff I've built. Missing Jam is high stakes! When I see the rigs out wheeling, I can relax (magic?) instead of being responsible for getting them there.

This was only my second Jam that I have had no responciblity there. It was great. See alot of old freind and making lots of new one. It is all about the people for me. Wheeling is a bonus for me. I will remember this one Just like the one in 2002. Great Job committee and guides. Get to see my extended family again. See you next year. Rob
