I am using cedar for my sill boards . I wanted my floor level , so it is easier to build stuff on , and my well is kinda close . I don't see the real need for a floor drain. It's only good for losing parts and tools into lol

Today finished up some cleaning , and did some prep work . I back filled around the slab with some plant waste and put in 40 tonne of class "C" gravel . Also finished bringing in the lumber Thurs night The big gear I went and got 50 pds of 2.25 and 3.5 galv spirals . I bought them from Taylor timber mart in Musqodobit . ( they had the best prices around ) It later caught on fire . I hear it was bad , and might have been confined in the compound Then I went and picked up some cedar , rough cut , 2X6 . It was only $20 more then the pressure treated lumber . J.G. the cedar man in Porters lake . He had this mint 66 Chev PU . He thought my MJ and trailer were pretty cool Back filling I layed down some more insulation on the ground , 2 ft out , between the pad and the ground ( 2 pieces shaped like an "L" gives me the 4 ft frost resistance ) My pops on the truck All done Frig !!! I hit the corner and broke off some insulation . Ill fix it later Still have to put some finer gravel in the driveway , but I will do that when the garage is done Well I am all ready to start building the garage , starting Sunday morning at 8 am . I am UBER EXCITED !!!! ;D Drop out if you can lend a hand . call or PM for directions

Why didn't you build a short knee wall for the wall to sit on? It would have eliminated any sill rotting worries due to water or other stuff on the floor.
Very cool pad tho, I wasn't aware of the advantages of an engineered slab until I read this thread. I'm going to be building a Garage soon So I'll be looking into costs and what not involved in this kind of setup.

I am not overly concerned about sill rot , and I used eastern cedar for my sills Big day today ! I'll Post pics in a bit. I need a shower ! Lol

Got lots done on Sunday . 3 walls standing and most of the 4th. Just have to build one 3 ft wide wall and then run the beam across the garage doors . Then we can start to board it in My cutting area. Watch the pile get bigger. I cut the scraps as I went to stove wood length Getting started The men. Thanks Dave for dropping over to help. And my dad's old work buddy for helping. Of course. My son and dad too Done for the day We put the windows on the back side up nice and high for benches and shelves and to make it harder for theives Man door and two more windows facing the house All the ends and rotten or questionable wood cut up for the fire place I am looking forward to completion. It's awesome to finally be building I'll pick at boarding it in at night after work
