Just wondering if anyone has a link to any flatfender plans? Cancer is beginning to rear its ugly head on the old Rubi fenders and I always said when it happened I would go flat fender, but would like to know if there are any good/different designs out there that anyone has seen. Thanks John

Are you going to build them yourself ? I would just start cutting your old fenders ( using the inner fender ) and start shaping til you like them . You can buy the weld in elbows , but they are very tight bends ( these are what I used for mine , Rays and Leigh's

TJ is just too fancy. You'll never see a CJ rusting like that.

Well aren't we alllll so funny... ;D. Yeah there is a bubble on the top of each one where they all go. Scott, I was planning on getting something built over the fall/winter and would rather not have the Jeep out of commission while hacking up the fenders, so I was just wondering if there were any detailed plans on the interweb anyone has come across. Of course if I can't find any then I guess that is the route I will have to go but am just in the contemplating stage now. Oh and Enos....doesn't everyone need a stripper no matter what...

I looked into these last year... www.bluetorchfab.com/Product/719/BTF-Jeep-TJ-Front-Tube-Fenders-DIY-Kit.aspxPriced well if one has someone to weld it together, and there's a link on the web where a guy cut up his stock flares so he had stock tire coverage, and used the stock inner fenders so the Jeep retained a look that was similar to stock. I'll have to look for the link when I get home.

It is difficult to find plans for anything online, especially something as complicated as fenders. Not that they are all that complicated, but there is a lot of fitting to be done.
Bare minimum is a vertical strap with holes at the tub, another vert strap at the grill, bent tube along the bottom of the hood from strap to strap, a tube from bottom corner of tub up to top bent tube, and filler panels top and side.
Something I think would look really cool, is tiny LED's, set in a pocket along the front fender curve in the tube, for additional signal lights.
Pretty much garantee if making them without your rig there, they won't fit. Inners need to be reused, a ton of fitting to make it look good...rig's gotta go down for the duration of project.

I was eyeing these for mine. modernclassicenterprises.com/They are different and light. Not much in the way of protection tho. And the price seems to have gone up like $50 from the last time I looked at them. $200 for plastic... I'll keep my rusty ones, lol.

Scott made the donkey ones and I'm pretty sure you would bounce off trees with them

Next thing inline for damage would be your hood. I got my Tube fender kit from Reg (bighair). I just had to use my inner fenders. Still is a lot of work but it certainly saves a lot of fab time. Not sure if he still makes them but might be worth sending him a PM.

I made mine out of approx. 1" OD pipe, and filled in with 16ga. I cut the fenders off at the bends
so I had a flat panel to work with, and welded some 3/4" square tube along the bottom edge so I had some reinfocement in the middle, and something to weld to.
I dropped about 2' off of a rock onto the bottom corner of mine a couple of years ago, and I broke one of my welds. I made all 4 (front and back) in a weekend, and that was bending the tube also.
