No wonder it flexed so good on the RTI at Jamboree Jason! extra flex from loose components! Musta been Tracy's brilliant scheming for the annual RTI win.

Well, it looks like I am into some body mount repairs now. Driver's side front tub mount, gone and broke right thru... Rear Driver's Side mount... Rear Passenger's Side mount... All the bolts are out now but will need to do some major mount repair before I can continue with installing the body lift. I hate body work. Aaron

Yeah that sucks and will hold you back a bit.Probably good that you discovered it though and can beef it up before any hard wheeling!

You should not take out all the body mount bolts . Its best to loosen one side , then remove the bolts from the other side

Scott that is exactly what I did. I just meant that the others were not needed to be cut out and they have been loosened some. I am working on the drivers side first and the only other bolt that I fully removed was th rear passenger side since there was no mount left holding it to the frame. I removed the tcase linkage this morning and gathered some metal to replace the bad body mounts. Aaron

Well, I started stripping parts off the jeep tonight to make room so I can tackle the rusted rear mount issues. I removed the rear bumper and I also removed the gas tank and skid. I cleaned up the spot welds and now I am ready to drill them out. I have a few questions... 1. I see the spot welds for one side of the rear crossmenber but I cannot see how it attaches to the rear of the tub. How does this attach and what is the easiest way to remove it? 2. If I need to drill spot welds to get this out is there a good spot weld remover/bit that I should use? 3. Once this is out what would you use to replace it with? Stainless Steel bent in the shape of the old one and rosette welded back into place? or steel square tubing stitched back into place? Other options? Aaron

There are spot drill bits. google image them. looks like a little hole saw.
Use steel to repair. I'd form a new piece of what you cut out. From sheetmetal of the same thickness or a bit more.

Good time to think about raising up your gas tank. I think you can cut and re- weld a stock skid? Good luck with your projects.

I have been thinking about lifting the gas tank skid like Chris (C-Man/ Monster) did. It is an after market Rugged Ridge 3/16" skid.
I have the rear mounts all cut out now and have the new 3 1/4" square tubing to go in it's place. Everything is cleaned up and ready to be put in hopefully this weekend. I have to paint what I can first so that it protects it a little bit.
Just need to clamp it in place temporarily and then align the tub again so I can mark and drill the holes out and weld the nuts on so I can seal the ends of the square tubing up. Then put it back into place and weld it in.
