A couple of months ago, the father of one of the sales guys here at the shop approached me about his Dodge Cummins work truck that needed service. It was cranky to start needed some wiring ect. He had two, the 91.5 current work truck and a 90 that had been condemned for numerous reasons, but it still ran. Long story short the injection pump on the work truck was weeping, I swapped the one from the 90, did some general maintenance work and he was good to go. As payment I took the 90, which was essentially a cab and chassis. I rebuilt the injection pump, installed a new lift pump, built a really cheap flat deck and some old man bumpers. Did some work to the floors, and some general maintenance work, brakes u joints, steering ect. Into it for about $2500. It should knock down about 18MPG. The specks are 1990 Dodge W250 Cummins 1st gen non- intercooled 250kish 727 auto NP205 case D61 FT D70 rear Old miss matched 265 75r 16 tires Some pics Really easy to make power with these, $40 fuel pin and $50 3000rpm governor spring, turn up the fuel screw and you have tire shredding power. She will build 30psi boost and 1600degrees if I hod it on the floor wohoo. And that is my old man truck, complete with two tone brushed on lower paint because it was all rotten hahah. I turned 40 a couple of years ago, figured it was fitting to get a rattly, smokey old man truck lol

Ya it's not pretty, lol. This is the chassis and power-train I will be using for my 4 door J30 truck aka "Heavy Hauler". Couple years off though, gotta build a SWB Jeep 1st. Jan this would be an excellent power-train for the COE

Unless you put bearing retainer or red locktite on the shaft seals when you put it together . Those VE pumps are the best daily driver pumps with linear fuel curve, and easy starts. They also fuel hard down low moreso than the P7100. I wouldn't be surprised to see 23-25 mpg with a timing bump. I wouldn't get head studs, but I'd overtorque the stockers a bit.

Yup, locktighted the output shaft seal. I agree, I like the VE for the DD, If I was building a sled pulling truck than the p would be my choice. I am still fiddlin, so valve adjustment and timming was my next order of buisness. The head studs will be when I change turbo, injectors and add an intercooler. I will retorque the stockers for now.
