LOL, that's awesome. Mine's at the age that being on the swing means I'm standing there pushing. Not exactly helpful in me being productive... but worth it of course.
Looks great. What's the plan for the slab on the right? Sorry if I missed it.

11 trusses up, 4 to go! I'll get a pic tomorrow.
The slab off to the side will get covered by a building to match what's on the side of the old shop.

Fancy colored steel roof or just galvanized? I'm in the market for some painted steel roof later this summer.

Looking good, don't see the blocking much anymore, died out years ago.

Some building codes in Canada require horizontal girts (solid blocking) at roughly 4' o/c in very tall walls or at least at mid-height. Any new barn buildings I do plans for in NS have these.

When it's right out in plain view, you pretty much have to.

Did your Dad retire from the highway? Big door, wondering if you intend to get the truck in there.

He sold his last truck in February. Door isn't big enough to get a truck that big in with the high bunk and stacks, need 14' for that. I sometimes have things to work on that are over 10', so that's the reason for the 12' door. We matched the height of the old peak and new, so ceiling height is actually about 13'6".
Walls are strapped with old barn boards, roof is next (with 3/4x3 we milled out) once we get the end truss fitted up against the old building.

It's coming along, weather hasn't been the best for working on it. All framed up, just 2 big windows left to put in. Ceiling is all strapped now, roof is next.
