Even though we're not going to make it how about posting up the trails ? It was done last year I believe.
And how about not allowing pre-booking of trails before the people wanting to go onthem actually get there ?
I was going to put a long b*#$h about that nonsense last year but since we can't make it I don't care.

There is no pre-booking. The Signup sheets open at a particular time, and you have to be there to put down names.
Are you complaining that friends sign up their friends for the same trail? I've had it done for me because I'm wrenching on people's junk or running errands to support my group.
There nothing wrong with a designated person signing up a group of rigs who run together and are sharing gear and parts.
Some of us have been planning this for a year ,and get there Wed. to make sure we get the trails we want. By the time the sheets open, we know where we are going as a group, and sign up.
Get there at the opening of sign-up sheets if you want best pick. The 'cliques' never fill the sheets from top to bottom with one person adding all the names.

This is my first jam and I won't be getting there till Thursday evening. Does this mean there's a chance I won't even get on the trail? I'm kinda confused here. Sent from my SGH-I747M using proboards

Not to worry Don, there will be great trails for everyone. Some trails are more Hard Core and some are more for stock or nearly stock rigs. I have a feeling that you are going to enjoy the trails that will be available. Like someone said in one of these threads, unless Jam is 50X bigger this year, there will be lots of space in the campground and on the trails.

Jan that's a crock - I was there at sign up and trails were full of "friends" and closed before 10 minutes was up. So a circle of friends book a trail before anyone has a chance to even look at the sign up ? Wasn't that way when I was a trailmaster dude.

Sent from my SGH-I747M using proboards You will be on a trail, and as a new jeeper you will remember it for years to come. You will also reflect on it as new jeepers come into the picture and you tell them about your first jamboree. Last year we did not get to do the trail we had wanted to run. Did it have an effect on our jamboree experience,, the answer would be no. Don, you will enjoy Jeep Jamboree, and you really won't understand until you go, it is more than just the trails. As we have all said at one time, IAJTYWU. Go to Jam, and really understand what this means.

You will be on a trail no problem and have a great time. I wouldn't try to talk anyone out of the experience and I have a couple of new people who will be attending because I talked them into it.
Some trails (particularly harder ones) have limits as to how many Jeeps can go on them safely. If a trail takes 16 jeeps and 12 of the people on the list are not even at the camp thursday evening at 7pm I wouldn't call that fair.
I brought this up now so perhaps something could be done about it.

The Jams in Quebec had the sheets arranged in such a way that you had to sign yourself up and you can't sign anyone else up. It's this way in the USA as well. First is tech inspection to establish what trails you can run... Then you have to line up and register and pick your trails at the same time. Part of the fun at Jam, is wheeling with people you DON'T know. I have always liked the Quebec and USA model better than the free-for-all method. If you and a group of friends want to wheel together, you have to get in line together for the tech inspection, and then wait till you are all ready to get in the trail selection line together.
One of the great values of going to Jamboree somewhere else is to learn better ways to do things.

Sometimes different IS better. Sometimes different is not. Different for the sake of different is not good enough. ;D

So a circle of friends book a trail before anyone has a chance to even look at the sign up ? Wasn't that way when I was a trailmaster dude. Yeah, the popular trails get signed up in under 10 minutes by participants eager to run the same trail together. How did you do it, so that people who got there late, got to chose trails ahead of those who were there early? ;D What is the gripe here? Group sign-ups by one person when the sheets open? The group signup I'm aware of, did not fill the sheet with one clique. Correct me if I'm wrong - The trailguide has the power to set the rig limit, right? So if you have a bunch of capable guys like me, big6, Ted, scott, Leigh, you , whoever, all with capable rigs and most of us are mechanics or fab guys.....why wouldn't the rig limit be bumped up if the trail became arbitrarily 'full'? Sure if it was 20 newbies, but man, we have all run these trails 10+ times each. We know a capable rig, one or two or three over the limit, is totally fine.
