Tis the season for deals... I have the RTC (return to center) steering stabilizers in stock. These fit.. 92-98 ZJ 84 and on XJ 97-06 TJ 86-96 YJ 100.00 no tax... Lots of coil overs, air shocks and bump stops in stock as well

so it basically forces the steering back to centre? does it increase the force needed to turn the wheel?

It would appear so. Move the collar up to tension spring.
As I recall some old machine design classes, I think springs to not exert the same force extending as contracting, so there may be more/less force to turn vehicle one way than the other. I would characterise that as a negative handling trait. But maybe oil shocks do the same thing, and in practice, it doesn't matter.
Seems worth the $100.

I would imagine the adjustment is to fine tune neutral center. Jan is right that the springs resistance is different depending on compression or tension but I imagine its not noticeable through the steering wheel.
