Did anyone get to see it? I emailed them for pictures but they said it wasn't on site and that there was a sale pending.

Yeah I emailed them as well. They also told me they had a sale pending and would let me know if it didn't sell.

I just got a reply back on the Rubicon saying it's still available and being sold as is with the MVI sticker removed. I didn't think dealerships could sell a vehicle like that?

Dad was talking to the sales guy at Connell Chrysler this afternoon, and he was told that the Rubi is SOLD and gone, not through the auction either.

I just got a reply back on the Rubicon saying it's still available and being sold as is with the MVI sticker removed. I didn't think dealerships could sell a vehicle like that? ha, that is actually illegal. Look at the registration for any of your vehicles. There is a note saying to sell a vehicle, it has to be inspected, and there is a box to check confirming it. Its really stupid. The Access clerks, if they notice it, suggest you leave and come back with a checked box. They never run the sticker # to confirm tho. I don't think their system is capable of telling, they would have to be doing manual data inputs from every mechanic's hand-written sticker book.

As far as I understand it, its not illegal at all. They (or anyone) can sell a vehicle "as is", but a dealer has to remove the sticker by law, whereas private sale does not. Technically, any vehicle being sold with a MVI over 30 days old is as is and the MVI isn't valid. Access NS just doesn't always verify.

Vehicles Purchased from a Nova Scotia Dealer If a “new vehicle” is purchased from a licenced Nova Scotia Dealer, the buyer will receive a Motor Vehicle Inspection sticker showing a three (3) year expiry date for a “type 1 vehicle” or one (1) year expiry date for a “type 2 vehicle” from time of inspection.
If a “used vehicle” is purchased from a licenced Nova Scotia Dealer, the buyer will receive a Motor Vehicle Inspection sticker, issued within 30 days prior to the date of sale, showing a two (2) year expiry date for a “type 1 vehicle” or one (1) year expiry date for a “type 2 vehicle” from time of inspection; OR
The dealer may sell the vehicle “as is”, remove any previous Motor Vehicle Inspection sticker and complete a “Sale of Vehicle Not Safety Approved” form. If a dealer sells a vehicle not safety approved a vehicle permit may not be issued until a valid Motor Vehicle Inspection sticker is obtained in name of the buyer.

Can you MVI a vehicle without a permit though? I thought they always asked for your permit before they would do the MVI on it?
