Oh man......I've been around those types of 'events' down there. I like to party too, and can appreciate a good bout of lawlessness every now and then. Trucks Gone Wild, New Waterford edition. lol
Those types of gatherings are NOTHING like Jam. You'll think you died and went to heaven. Bring your family, feel safe!

Countdown has been going daily for the past several weeks on the Jamboree FB page and on the Nova Scotia Jeep Club FB page.

Damn the facebook page..... It is ruining the proboards forum. I do agree to a point. We talked about this at the last AGM, and I have also had conversations with people about this topic here in Halifax and other chapters. Yes, without argument it seems the FB page has taken over when it comes to daily postings. Now having said this, the NSJC web page has links to both this page and FB. I personally tell people when asked, this is the "official " page that club issues or concerns are posted along with trail run list for the year, private runs etc. etc. I feel the FB page is popular simply because it is right there. A person checks their own FB, and the NSJC page is just 1 simple click away while still seeing notifications from other interest. So I guess in the end, IMO this site, although may seem quiet , will always remain the official NSJC site and personally promote it whenever I can. Now back to our regular Jamboree thread. ;-)

I think it is a big mistake to lose our fourm strength and contacts from lack of use and lack of promotion from our members and club management. Not everyone uses facbook, or likes it. Lots of drama and bullshit, some people have jealous spouces who dont want them on it. Imho.. Da Dogg

Actually, the forum is also not the club. It is used as a way to discuss topics related to the club. I consider it our official page for club matters, but it is still is not the club, just the same as the FB page is a tool used to communicate but also is not the club. We have a web page that the club pays for, with contact info for all the executives and is the only official club page. As for people looking for information, yes some people only use the FB page, and some use both FB and this page.
As for lack of interest here, well it is what it is. I know we ( members and executives ) try to promote the forum page but if people choose not to take full advantage of it, well that is their choice. We cant make people use it. Members and executives try to explain to people of all the great information that can be found on the forum page, from tech tips, private runs, Jamboree, oh and the importance of paying your dues to cover the cost of running this club. Oh, by the way, dues are due for memberships.
As for the NSJC FB page actually there is no drama, no BS, and no advertising. Yes, every post has to be approved on the FB page, and this is why there is none of what I just mentioned. After a post is approved anyone is able to comment, granted those comments are also monitored. We want to wheel, meet new people, and simply have fun. There are 2,000 people on the FB page, and as you know, we as a club have far from that many people in the club, so we monitor it. Awe the jealous spouse, well frankly that sounds like more of a personal matter, so I wont bother commenting. lol
Oh, did I mention dues are due? Hope this clears the waters some. Shaun.

Shaun. this wasnt ment to give you a chance to hammer people to pay dues. im aware I have not paid in the past few years. this is a choice I made, so no reminding or badgering for it wont work. I dont use fb a lot. (More recently but still not that good with it) Im not intrested in useing the fb page, and my point was and is you are not posting all the information on our fourms. if we lose our fourm I think it will be a great loss to the club. da Dogg

Time for me to chime in: I agree with many comments and hear what you all are saying.
Each major topic for Jamboree has been posted above, as was promised. However the majority of our participants, much to the dismay of some, are frequent fb users and do use the fb pages quite often. We are trying to go with the times and still do our diligence to make sure major updates are posted on here as well. Perhaps these comments should be placed in another thread and not on our Jeep Jamboree Thread . Thanks!!

This reminds me of my recent post on FB about music. I have over 600 albums sitting in milk crates in my garage, I even have a turntable...I just don't have an amp that has a phono input. In my hand, my iPhone currently has the equivalent of 1000 albums. I can still enjoy my music, just not in the same format that I did in the past. Vinyl, to many, is still the purest way to listen to music....
