There are no mileage restrictions with antique insurance...well with silver wheels anyway. Here is what you sign verbatim including capitalization
MY VEHICLES WILL BE CHIEFLY used for hobby and/or collector car activities. My vehicles will not be used for regular transportation (ie: shopping, vacation, and to and from work). Then blah blah blah you have to have another vehicle blah blah.
So that leaves a lot to interpretation as far as I am concerned so I gave her some scenarios. It's a beautiful day out and I decide to take it to work..answer: as long as you are not using it CHIEFLY as your regular transportation. I want to go to PEI for the weekend and take it.. answer: no problem, but I would not suggest you take it for a 2 week family vacation to Ontario or anything like that without there being a show or something like that on your agenda I get home from work every evening and take it out for a cruise...answer, no problem I am coming back from a drive and have to stop in to grab a few groceries...answer: no problem
She said the "CHIEFLY" part says that is its intended purpose and the "regular" part means just that...a regular frequency. She did say many times that they expect people to enjoy their cars but also not put them in regular situations where they could be damaged. Do I plan on going for a day of shopping at halifax shopping center and leaving it out in the parking lot...not likely. Will I drop off at Sobeys on my way home in it to pick up a few things...yup.
Anyway you can argue your own interpretation but that is what I was told and it is nothing different then I was going to use it for anyway so I am good with it... ;D

Well this is from the Motor Vehicle Act....I researched a little because I debated getting an antique plate because I want to take it to work every now and then.
Registration of Antique Vehicles
regulations made under Section 10 of the Motor Vehicle Act R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 293 O.I.C. 73-433 (May 15, 1973), N.S. Reg. 36/73
1 There is a class of vehicle designated and known as an antique vehicle.
2 An antique vehicle is a motor vehicle which is at least thirty (30) years old or is a recognized classic.
3 A vehicle may be registered as an antique vehicle where
(a) the vehicle has been tested for originality, running order and safety and certified as such;
(b) the owner of the antique vehicle is a resident of Nova Scotia;
(c) the antique vehicle is in addition to any other class of motor vehicle registered in the name of the owner and is not used as a family vehicle or for business purposes;
(d) there is in force in respect of the vehicle a policy of automobile insurance providing public liability and property damage insurance of not less than the minimum limits prescribed by the Motor Vehicle Act as proof of financial responsibility; and
(e) upon application for registration, the owner pays the recording and annual registration fee.

Just popped out and got the antique plate for the Chevelle this evening and asked about DRL's. She wasn't sure but went to check with her supervisor and the answer I got was no I didn't need to turn the lights on. We all know what kind of info we get from the people at the counter so take it for what it is worth. Although when I got home I took it for a little cruise and passed 4 cop cars head on and followed one for about 2 clicks, so I tend to believe the lady at the RMV...

I bet if you give him the finger he'll come back and chat. ;D If I got pulled over for no DTRL I'd act surprized and say "What; I just put in a relay" then get out of the jeep and look to see they weren't working, apologize and promise to fix it. Much better chances than giving dude a hard time. Then you would get a ticket Ken...Ask Roy...

what time do the Hfx runs usally wrap up? wife is working so I'll need to find a sitter and what not............ Rick Just like any other run Rick...it is hard to say. Depends on # of rigs that show up (last couple runs there have been 30-40 rigs), # of stucks, breakages etc. I can say that we usually get out around 4 ish, but it doesn't take too much to make it later. Hope you guys can make it. John

Hi all. The Jamboree committee has decide to do an early bird draw for 2 adult passes for the Jamboree. The early bird draw cut off is going to be April 23/10. If your name is drawn you will receive a $195.00 cheque once you check in at the registration booth at base camp. Would this not be a cheque for $390? If the draw is indeed for two passes? I believe that is two seperate draws for one pass each
