... has washed out! We must have had some very high water, the far end swung downstream, and then the whole thing moved about 4' down until it fetched up on some rocks. Water was going over it as it sits, 3' above the normal water level! We're going to need a big tractor to get it back in place.
A large tree has also fallen on the trail near the bottom of white knuckle hill, covering the rocky way and the bypass. Looks like trail clearing down here will be some work this year.

Is there anyway we could hook snatch blocks up in a tree with straps and move it back with winches? I have a couple snatch blocks, Perhaps do both ends at once. I have some tree spurs around somewhere and can get up most large trees. If not perhaps a backhoe from the bottom end and lift into place.
Do you think it will last till spring or should we try and secure it before the wet snow and ice hit us?
Tks Alan

Bummer,,, we worked hard that day putting that in. If we need a tractor or something to put this back, do you have access to one or is there one down that way that we can rent or use. If we need to fix it , we might be better off spending a little money now as apposed to alot of money later.
Thanks for the update and let us know what we canb do if you can
Thanks Terry

My uncle has a big 4x4 tractor with logging winch that should be able to handle the job. Might be a good idea to secure it where it is so it doesn't get moved further down stream in the spring thaw.

That would be great if we could get theat tractor Alan, I'll make a few calls around up here to see who is available and when and see if any of the times are good for you.
Geez, I really don't understand how that bridge could have moved given the team of engineers that built it. hehe

I'll go see if I still have those spools of cable at my Inlaws. 1/4 strand from my cable days. I have some long bolts and bear claws for attaching anchors to hydo poles. I'll put it all together in case we need it. I'll rig up a temp. Invertor to run a drill so we could mount the anchors.

I was talking to my cousin this afternoon, and he'll bring the tractor and help us out. Just have to figure out when to do it. Hopefully the weather will continue to cooperate.

guys, i have 2 HUGE wire ropes. they look like they are rescue equipment for tanks or heavy equipment. my old man gave 'em to me cause they were too big to put on the box of the dump trucks. i can measure the length, and confirm there are two, there might just be one. they have looped ends too. your welcome to them for whatever, pulling the bridge or securing it , whatever, let me know. i can fire you off a pic. Alan, I was talking to Kevin and we are available for Saturday afternoon if you are able to do anything at that time. I have heard from a couple of people and if they are available the more hands the lighter the work. If Saturday is not doable , maybe Sunday could be done. Let us know. Thanks Terry
Oh and Jan, we might just take you up on the cable offer, if not to move it but maybe to secure it once we get it back in place.
We will let you know. Thanks Terry

Sorry guys but I have to work this weekend I guess. I fully intend to lend a hand whenever possible though. For future repair missions I may even be able to offer up a small 4wd tractor with a front end loader. It's the same Kubota that most of the rental places have as a backhoe (sorry no backhoe attachment). Great for getting through tight spots in the woods. It's my dad's but since the farm's being sold it won't be in high demand.

The tractor may come in very handy for some other places. Thanks for the offer. I have a small landscaping trailer it would fit on. Sounds like the same size I've been wanting to buy for some time. Great for lifting items into place.
