Finally got around to inquiring about land ownership on one of our local trails today. Good news, it's a public road! It's only a short trail but there are tonnes more in the area. Trail runs pretty much straight up the north mountain. It can be done in a stocker (under ideal circumstances) but even the bigger rigs need to pick there lines carefully. The bottom section is clay with 3' deep washouts so weather condtions change the difficulty a great deal. First time I ran it it was frozen and it was a cake-walk, 2 days later after it thawed a bit I only made it about 100 feet before I managed to flop my pristine XJ on it's side in one of the washouts. Here's a few pics I shot today: s8.photobucket.com/albums/a20/tchase/satellitesscouting/I just hiked it today as I was by myself but we'll probably take a run at it sometime soon if anyone wants to come along.

My buddy and I run it about once a month in the summer. Did it a few weeks ago and there was a couple feet of snow at the top. Lotsa fun. There is a pile of other trails that run off of it , but all are pretty short. The first time I ran it I was driving my VW bug! That was pretty scary! Todd Post up when you go, we may be in!

Kevin, I'm sure you probably have been there before I think it's pretty well known. Located in the Centreville area. Certainly far from a new trail but may be new to some, obviously well used but I never knew the precise ownership. This was the first place my old XJ (and first 4x4) saw real off-roading. And so it began ;D I never had a clue you could do something like that in an XJ when I bought it. That wasn't even a consideration actually, I just wanted a rear-drive vehicle with decent power/mileage and since I lived in a rural area the 4wd was just an added bonus. The day I bought the XJ I was actually in Sackville to look at a 2wd Dakota. After the first successful trip up there on the half bald generic 225 A/T's I was defineately hooked on wheelin'. Oddly coming back 2 days later and floppin' it on it's side and toasting a front wheel bearing ('cause I just didn't know when to give up) didn't clue me in immediately to what I'd gotten myself into

Thought it looks like one I was on before. There are ton's of short runs around. It sucks that they don't have any distance!

I should be able to skip out for a little while Jeff. Give me a call when your headed back this way and we can go from there. I'll probably be in and out of the house all morning but I shouldn't be far.
