well since this place is always slow, enjoy some zuki pics.... I started working on the buggy, started mounting the RCI seats and then i ran out of ideas for the material i had so i left that as is. I need to get 6 roughly 1 foot pieces of 1" angle to make a frame to bolt the brackets on the seat to. so then i started cutting, that sawzall and I are becomming pretty good friends..... ... choped it all off then started bending pipe. two days work and this is what i came up with. i think its going to look pretty good, still gotta cut the bumper off and push it back 6" then when i coil the front i'll move the axle forward about 2-3" leaving my tires way out in front. the winch will be mounted to a 2" receiver and wired front and back, mainly to cut the weight down in front. well heres the pics.... lights will be on either side of the grill... the start of the front clip.... some temp side pannels stuck in place to give you an idea of the outcome looking better.. heres how it sits now, grill cut down and stuck in place for the pic. well what do ya think? comments, likes? dislikes?

Nice work. Would be fun to be able to do that type of work. Keep updating with pics please. Maybe as a retirement project...

I hope your not using pipe...Pipe is ok for bumpers but should not be used for structural purposes, like a cage.

lights are off a 50 something ford... there just an enclosure for the normal big round headlights that all older chevs, cj7's, and stuff use.... and they have one mounting bolt just like every aftermarket light..... they came on my ol dune buggys andi was told they were 50 something ford....
and yes its pipe, and pipe is fine for any use as long as there is enough triangulation to give it strength.... my buggy too 2 very hard flops since i built the cage and it didn't budge... and its 1" sched 40.... as for a bender, dale bought one of those PA ones and we bent one piece and realized how bad it sucks so we took the hand held jack out and put in a 25 ton hydrolic symplex cylender on it.... now you just line up the pipe and push hte foot pedel.... ;D i'll have completed pics today...

heres some recent pics of the buggy.... still didn't start the coiled front yet but the front clip is pretty well complete... and i finished mounting the rci seats and put the covers on to see how they look..... oh so sexy... lights and grill all mounted and the tube work all caped and painted up. another angle..... nice headlights off a 1950ish ford something or other... fuse box back in place factory hood latch and prop rod holder back in place prop rod and rubber stops for the hood... RCI seats and harness more updates when i start to coil the front.....

Hmmm. Do tell. What exactly is wrong with pipe in this application?
Man.... Between you and Chad the sheetmetal be a flyin' off! Keep the "pipe" bending going!

yeah i'm down to the hood and windshield frame.... ;D i can't see em ever ditching the windshield.... i don't wanna be like chad and rue on those old tracks.... man thats dusty.... i think i'm going to add a hoop around the headlights to protect them a bit and then a brace under the hood going from the side pipe to the front pipe to give it some triangulation for side impacts.... then i still got to braces to add to the rear of my cage to triangulate the rear section, which has none yet... then as soon as dales steel shipment comes in i'll have my tubing to start linking the front suspension.... hope it works out the first time.... i'm goign to build a 2 link WITHOUT a panhard..... if it works it should have amazing articulation...

a tip for the pipe, put the welded seam in the inside of the bends. less tendanacy to split.

ok but look at my side pieces, there bent in a z.... so where do i put the seem??? oh i know, inside on the first one, lock it in the vice, heat it up and twist it so the seem will be inside the bend on the next bend too..... now i understand ;D
