Got started building a WJ front bumper last week. It will be like the one on the red WJ posted in the other WJ bumper thread in the general section. Haven't got a lot done yet, but here's a few pictures:    Cutting the 7 slots  7 slots cut  |

that s a crazy looking mill. wheres the motor? underneath with a driveshaft up the column? it looks like the head is just a gearbox?
anyway, just curious

It's a horizontal mill with a vertical head attachment. Runs off the horizontal spindle, has bevel gears in it that speed it up 1.5. Motor is down in the bottom, bulge on the side cover is where the upper pulley/clutch is.
Mill was built in 1946 and is supposed to have come off one of Canada's aircraft carriers. It's one of the best mills I've ever used. They don't make them like that anymore.

oh , horozontal, duh.  i have like zero experience in a job shop. where's the controller? haha, just kiddin. bumper looks awesome. i see you sandwiched the mounts and welded nuts on, looks good. |
