I guess you weren't at the Jam. Tight trails and slick mud = lots of rubbed trees.

I actually did a poll some time ago after I crunched my fender on my four month old TJ...I was wondering if it was worth replacing my fender with another stock fender or going to tube fenders...
My question was "How many people have banged up their fenders"... it turned out to be like 75% have banged up their fenders...

Not if its the same muffler pipe that is under my XJ, the crossover is completely trashed. And I have dents in just about all my body panels (well, the passenger's side ones).

one advantage of not tying into anything solid to the tub, is it will probably just push through the sheet metal in the fender when he is hard against something, instead of something more serious. I have been contemplating my tube fender design, and deem that it is totally unreasonable for me to get enough width out of the tube fenders to cover my tire for the simple reason that I am constantly pushingthe flare flat up against the tub. Im looking for some way to combine a more rigid fender design, like a tube fender, and then an extra flare after that to soak up the trees and rock hits. But if you want to see how they work paul, come down to run ps2 anytime ;D

I think Mark and his Big Wackers would disagree with you. Great to have wide fenders for highway running thats for sure. Why not make them so they come off and back on with some quick clips of some sort and your onto something. Around here people are always trying to squeeze into tight spots. Was a time we spent days clearing trails now it's Screw it lets run the trail.
