How do bead locks keep you from cutting a tire?

if your worried about weight and cost, why did you go with such a large tire to start? spares r a good idea, i would still be up the mt. with a flat tire the night i popped a bead, the other jeep was a cj has a different bolt patten than i do, so i could not use his spare. just another thought.

Not sure what the official Jam stance is, but I thought I read on weeb somewhere in the past that anything within 2-inches of the regular tire height would be sufficient to get a rig off a trail. Maybe you can just get a slightly smaller, non-beadlock wheel?

if you are asking about Jam requirements, the intent of the spare tire rule is so that you can get your truck out of the woods if you blow a tire, and not hold up the entire trail ride because you are unprepared.
its up to the tech inspection guys, or the trail guide.
with a beadlock, you could probably drive out on a flat.....would be ok on Arockalypse because it is on the property we're camping on.....but the rest of the trails require road time, so the guide may have a different opinion for a different trail.
kind of an open-ended answer, but from experience. you need to be self-sufficient. if something unexpected happens, everyone pitches in. but something like a tire, you really should have one, you are expected to, to keep the day moving.

the rule does say full size spare , i do have a few regular size tire i could bring up i am expecting to make it to the jam this year if all goes well and arockcapolyspe is part of my plan , the jeep is fully lock front and rear and the traction would probably not be to much afected if i run it with a small tire on one end and a locking hub undone upfront, i have to put the smaller tire up front and move the front tire where needed, but then again if a fulsize spare is needed ill order anew one and find a way to have it mounted on the jeep, it wil just be a lot more easyer to pop wheelie with the 360
