snatching with a 16K winch uphill out of a bog in winter while being attacked by a dragon. It would probably fail. lmao

The intent i had in mind was trailer tie down, or if wheeling, a spot to strap to keep it on its wheels if it was tippy. Or to chain up the axle to change a tire. not snatching with a 16K winch uphill out of a bog in winter while being attacked by a dragon. It would probably fail. LMFAO at the dragon comment.......I know what you were getting at but had a free minute in which to pick..... Looks good Rico for sure and I like the tie downs as well...

Why not use chain around the axle/ sharp edges, and two short straps? Or all chain and a chain binder? Just wondering.
Buggy looks good! Looking forward to seeing it in action.

What I didn't have at the time was chains or money to buy chains. What I did have at the time was some junks of plate, a torch and a welder... ;D Annnnd truthfully I never really thought about chains.... That would have been easier....

Right on. I just seen the mud guys do it with chains the other weekend. They snaped the load binder with a peice of pipe, and you couldn't budge the chains at all. Seemed very secure. Just FYI.

Just wondering. its a pain in the ass to crawl around under there in the rain and snow. the tie downs keep you off your back on the trailer surface. chain or straps around the axle will crush the brakelines without routing it all around that stuff. so you are under there. maybe on the mud trucks they are all jacked up, and you can walk around under them, so you don't have to lay down. not with a smaller Jeep. just a neat little idea that make life easier.

Devoted about 6 hours to the buggy in past two days! Actually made progress! Now you have to remember at this point I'm not aiming for pretty just wanting to get it finished. Installed the pedals. Made a bracket to hold the gas pedal. All parts were scavenged from the old YJ. Could not get a line for the clutch from the local parts stores so I made one and installed it. Mounted the computer, installed the front shocks (not quite the way I had in mind but will work). Installed the cross bar and mounted the harnesses. Put in the gas tank mounts. Tidied up the wiring. And installed the battery. Had a slight "duh" moment. I wanted to put the master switch and switches on the dash only to discover that I could not reach the dash when strapped in! So I had to make a box and mount it between the seats. Easy reach. And I had a moment to pose for a couple of pictures. Have to do the plumbing for fuel, brake lines (cutting brakes), spring retainers, floor and driveshafts. Then its go time!
