Why not in July or August when the ticks are lesser and the weather is better?
Why is it still called a Jamboree? Just reading in the latest issue of Can 4WD that the London and area Jeep Club (that provided all the guides and work to AVP like we did) took over the Bobcaygeon Jam and put on something called Trailfest. Looks like it was highly successful, as has been our event the last two years.

for one thing the campground open the following week end so its empty if you do it when they are in full fledge operation you will have to deal with theft and vandal which mean security added cost for in season more people around for shower and the like

Really? Is it that bad in the Valley in July at this campground? Is this from experience or are you just pulling reasons out of your bottom? Just askin'

LOL Nope. Actually curious about this for a while now. Weather in the Valley is much better in July, August, even into September than it is in May-June and I have never asked the question.

No its just a busy place, and more people more problems, granted we have been lucky last 2 years the weather was good just cold in the evening. Hey if you have some suggestion put them to the Jam committee that will be welcome, we get a better rate off season and also you have to be consistent to build up your numbers over the years. Its all food for taught.

True enough. That was my thinking that we might get a better turnout when the weather is better.

Myself I like June, more mud less dust on the trails. It's not so F/N hot out as July is. And for the ticks, I don't remember a lot of people complaining about them. Roy

Interesting thread.
Just thought I'd let you all know that Jam discussions have already begun. There will be a 2009 Board Section going up early in the New Year. Input and volunteers will be needed - so stay tuned.

I see why you ask, it was a little chilly last year. The way our vacation picks go I have a hope in hell of going in June, July would be out for me. I think interest would drop off considerably in the heat of the summer. I thought '08 was a good turnout? When is the Fox mountain weekend, that's in July isn't it? As for ticks, suck it up Princess. How is Maine in Oct.? Chilly? Stay in a tent or everyone use hotels? I have to wait and see what vacation choices bring, if Maine isn't sold out.

For me, I like June, but I hate hot weather so that is just me. I am assuming that it was June when AVP was doing it as it was the start of the cross country jam tour, but I have no idea if that is the reason. I would think that if it was further into the summer then it would interfere with family vacations and such and a significant number may not be able to attend. Also like Paul mentioned, unless some people have seniority where they work then they may have problems getting the time off in peak vacation season. i guess it is individual no matter how you look at it, but if you look at the numbers (which are mostly club members as well) then it looks like it works well in June.
