I say leave it as is. If there was a one day pass, you would probably only get 1/2 of the current people that would do the weekend event. You might just as well only make it a one day event then. Sat/Sun event would basically be the same thing again. Sat everyone wheels has a great time, party Sat night, some have to work on their stuff to fix everything that is broken on Sat. Sun morning arrives, everyone is hungover, have to tear down camp, 1/2 people leave and even with the best intentions of running on Sun, don't bother. The remainder shows up late holding up the run. Everyone takes the easy way and rushes through because they have to get home Sun night. Then have to take Mon off because they did not make it home till 3am on Mon morning, getting their junk fixed, etc. If it was a Sat/Sun I would most likely only run on Sat. If there was an option to only have a one day pass, I would probably would end up doing just that. Drive down Sat morning, go wheeling, drink a few pop, sleep in the truck and go home Sun morning. It would not be the same. Hopefully there is no Harley runs this year ...

Keep it as is. It's held that time of year for ease of getting vacation time. You only need to take friday... and if it was changed, you'd likely have to take monday.
For those who've never gone... you need sunday to sleep in, pack up your crap, repairs, drive home, unpack, clean up,... hell, last year we got home around 2 or 3, slept until 8 or 9 and went back to bed around 10. It's a very fun, and very tiering weekend.

i see pros and cons to both sides of the argument here. speaking from experience with the "other" Fox Mountain Rally: we run it sat/sun. however sun is just a mud bog so not so much chance of breakage and everyone is right at the campground. most people i have talked to in the kentville area who wheel, feel the price of Jam is too high. since none of them have gone they don't have any idea of what is offered (neither do i since i've never gone either) and this makes an objective judgement very unlikely. the fox mountain rally is done for 40 bucks a truck/driver and 20 bucks a passenger. all the proceeds after expences go to the IWK childrens fund so it's not apples to apples by any means. that being said there are good times had by all at the fox mountain rally and there are guys broke down sat that spend all day sunday trying to get fixed and still end up going home late sunday nite. we get a large group every year from the city too. breakage is a risk inherant with the sport/hobby. you just accept that as a potential issue when you drop that first wheel off the road. usually the half dozen or so that volunteer to make the event work get rewarded for that effort with free registration to the event. if you need to, like some one else mentioned, have registration for day passers set for a one hour period on friday nite and another on sat. morning. if they are on time fine if not too bad. have a phone # made available incase some one runs into trouble on the road and can't make the time perhaps? the price alone may keep me from going this year. my gf works friday so she can't go that day. the little guy would love to go but not without mommy. so i guess i'm a big fan of the day pass idea just so they can come sat and get in on the fun. i'm not familiar with what is included and what quality those inclusions are. i've heard the prizes are great but don't know what they are for or how they are awarded. have no idea what the usual meals are like, and so on. i'd really love to come but if there is no day pass, Beth and Coulson probably won't be coming since we see no reason to pay another 200 + $ for half the event. therefore i have to find a buddy to come so i don't get scared in the woods....(lmao) and most of them don't see the value behind the price. as for volunteers they're always hard to come by, never properly compensated and forever undervalued. if i can get into the club by then i'd be happy to volunteer to help if i can. if not then i'll be the first to shake the others that do and thank them for the time and effort they will have spent for me to have a good time. some one help me out here and give me some info to help them see the value.... thanks for reading and feel free to flame away or carry on as if you were normal....

Normal Jam format:
Thrusday evening: Check in and Veh inspections Camping provided
Friday: Breakfast Trail run with boxed lunch provided Supper when you get back Games in the evening usually.... RTI ramp stuff like that
Saturday: Same pretty much as friday Evening gives out prizes to all particpants.... usually lots of prizes... included lift kits, winches, and tires... usually not a ton of those. Mud bog in there too.
Sunday: Breakfast and head home.
APJ's provides free mechanical aid to anyone broken during the Jam if you need it and will help you source parts too. Big +++ for the average joe that can't fix everything yet.
So you get 3 nights of field camping, 3 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches and 2 suppers. Lots of prizes and 2 full days of wheeling with free help from 3 of the Best Jeep mechanics out there!
Worth it yet?

For four of us that's 28 meals, 3 nights camping, 8-10 sometimes warm showers ;D, unlimited firewood for 3 nights, a weekend away from home, etc. One year the four of us won more prizes than the entrance fee, last year nothing, that's the way it goes. I've camped right beside APJ's setup the last two years, they do a lot of work, and make parts runs when necessary. (Never saw any Toy axles in their parts pile though.) ;D I've never been able to get time off for the Fox Mountain run, or I'd go. So for four of us it would be $100? How many nights camping? I know they barbecue, how many meals?
I do think if it is Saturday and Sunday the second day will have to be short to accommodate the closing and getting ready to go home. That's kind of sad because the Valley has some great trails, and besides hanging out with friends that's the biggest draw of the Jamboree.

How come the night run idea disappeared so quickly? ;D
I left on Saturday night last year (wanted to be home with the baby for my first father's day on Sunday). I was packed before supper and closing ceremonies, did 120 the whole way home, and still didn't hit the driveway until midnight. If I'd had carnage, a late trail return, or anything else to slow me down, it would have been a late night. Wouldn't have wanted to do that on a Sunday night, and have to work Monday.

Well, a big THANKS to everyone for their input. I just spent the last hour going through all the posts and writing them down in order to present to the Jeep Jam committee. I've said it earlier, I'll say it again - all ideas will be presented. Don't be upset if yours does not make the cut - but I'd rather have people have their say and the ideas considered than people not even having the opportunity to speak up.
This post is now closed for consideration.
Thanks again all!!!
