Ok i have had it with the carter its been the thorn in the side of my jeep sense i bought the damn thing. I am looking to get rid of it for good what are my options and i am running on a pretty limited budget (unversity doesnt give me a deal cuz i drive a yj) lets say 500$ give or take a 100 or so. I hear about the weber carb alot but i am wondering if there are any other options thanks.

I have a regular holley 650 it doesn't work good in the wood, I will buy the off road version holley called "Truck avenger". I did some resarch and I thinkg it will be a good go. I had a webber carb before I sold it to Justin it was working good to. There is a good right up in last month or before on carbs comparation
Good luck

I paid bout 250 for mine i think........used but workin awesome! Usually got for 250-300 used. Dunno what new ones are worth, prolly close to 450-500
Justin P.S.- U could always do away with the carb and drop in whole 4.0L with EFI !!!! But since ur on budget like me, it'll hafta wait right?? ;D

The Carter BBD can work good, it's just the version they put on YJ's that really suck. There's a computer trying to control it and the timing. Get one off an old Dodge truck (usually about $30, I've got a couple), put a kit in it (about $30, plus an hour to put it in), bolt it on, and it should work great (done it a few times).
There is also a very simple wiring modification that takes the computer out of the timing and makes a big improvement, no matter what carb you are running.
