Just dropped 4.10's in my 88 YJ and installed all new bearings/seals, ect. After 3 wks, i noticed last night that the front pinion seals leaking again! Any ideas why?? Nuttin jammed in thr from trail, i looked. Yoke was original i believe. Would this be worn enuf to cause it to not seal properly? If i replace the yoke, what do i set torque to on pinion nut???
TIA Justin

I can't remember what shape the seal surface on that yoke was like, probably the problem though. The front uses shims to set the preload, so you just have to make sure the nut is good and tight.

My front seal leaked everytime after the dealer changed it. I told them 3 times to sand down the yoke as it must have a burr. No go they just changed the seal for a forth time. I fianally got fed up and changed it myself. The yoke looked fine but I could feel a rough spot. I wet sanded it real smooth and no more leak!
It can be a reather expensive seal at least on my 98 Cherokee. The rear is almost half price of the front one.
