just wondering if jeeps are like dodges in the way you can check for codes on the engine by flippin the key to acc/off etc.
my 4.0 is saying "check engine", and id like to look up the code

XJ's with HO engines do, so I'd think your MJ should too.

so what do you have to do to get them to show? i tried to do the key thing like in dakotas but it didnt do anything. somehting im missing?

It should flash the check engine light for the codes. For example: flash-pause-flash-flash is 12 (battery disconnected). They always flash 55 (flash-flash-flash-flash-flash-pause-flash-flash-flash-flash-flash) for end of codes. You have to watch it closely, I had to do mine a couple of times before I got the hang of it. My 97 TJ and 2000 Neon are much easier, they put the codes on the digital odometer.

perfect ill try it again tomorrow. i only tried it a couple times where i didnt even know if thats what i had to do for the 4L's.

You have to flip the key on-off three times in something like 2 seconds, ending with it in the on position.
