Rue is a person, he's in the valley and builds his own off-road rigs.
My 2 cents on the 8.25...I have a 4.0L Auto with the NP242 and had vibes at 3". A 1" TC drop fixed that (mostly).
When Blake lifted his XJ (was supposed to be 3.5", he got around 4.5") they had to drop the TC around 2" to make it driveable.

I'm planning on SYE. Did your friend drop the 2" and SYE?

Just a 2" TC drop, I believe he was looking at a SYE to get rid of the drop. Alan would know better than me.

Enos was close, it's a 4.5" lift that gave close to 6" in back. He's planning on an SYE or possibly double carden with slip yoke. His vibrated so bad with just 1" drop that it made the t-case seal leak, and the springs came with angle shims. I had to grind some clearance in the front yoke of the rear shaft so it would drop down enough to fit in the rear yoke. We put in a drive shaft for a dana 35 rear too, which is about 1/2" longer, to get the slip in farther.

I have 6" on my XJ and I only get minor vibes at 100km/hr and alittle when downshifting. I don't have a SYE either....yet. Have shims on the springs and 1.25" shackles. Mine's driveable and my u-joints on rear DS are tight. Been running it since May.

Dimitri gives me hope! Thanks. Do you have a 6" including the 1.25" shackles? or 6"+1.25"?I'm hoping to run the XJ for a bit until I get my SYE (installed by Bobby).

There's something to be said about the old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it". I've know club memebers running 35" +, or 33" (with lockers) size tires on D35 axles without breaking (D35 being weaker than a 8.25). Just gotta use the old brain muscle when wheeling (most of the time). Anywho, just my observations.
cheers

That 1.25" is included in the 6". I have a friend who ran the 6" RR kit on his '89 for a year without a SYE and said is ran good.

I really like to talk to this Rue fellow about his axles. How would I contact him?

Rue dosn't take orders for Axles. He just happened to build a sweet one for himself and wound up selling it.
I'll ask him if he has plans to rebuild another one. He's a pretty busy fellow.

A shop in Burnside made this for me to replace the stock junk. It can handle some wacky angles:
