Good stuff Jan! We're doing disk conversion on D44 rear with Ford8.8 hardware (crown vic & explorer) right now... writeup and pics will be up when we're done... you have no ebrake with your setup is that correct? or you going to use a line lock (or just won't bother..LOL) Using the backing plate from Crown Vic we're able to incorporate a park brake.. pretty slick setup with next to no fabrication.

I'd love to see it. Yeah, no parking brake (It's an auto!) I was thinking line lock, then eventually a t-case mounted disc with a motorbike caliper and master. I'll pop over to TMS, check out the setup, got pics up yet? Is the e-brake inside the rotor with little shoes? or an external caliper? I have room to mount a chopped down caliper bracket and another little caliper, I read 300zx calipers are like that, I just never assumed the easy to find Fizzord stuff was. What are the prices of the Ford stuff new? Jeep: $35ea. rotor, $25 pads, $35ea. caliper thanks for info.

just chatting with Andre about the e-brake. Can't use hydraulic! I thought you just needed a redundant system, but it actually has to be mechanical, so no hyd. leakdown can occur. Shit. Fair warning for insection time.
You guys changing out the master? And what about prop. valve?

You'll just have to make that t-case e-brake mechanical, pretty easy to make a caliper for that. I think the rear calipers on my parent's 97 T-bird have the e-brake built into them, I'll check tomorrow.

I was going to use a line lock and was told NO! Then I said well hows a pinion brake sound? Again told NO! They would not pass. Went to Napa and looked at the newer Chev. 1/2-3/4 ton hydro brakes for the rear and they have a seperate cable activated emergency brake set up. I will have to make an arm and mount for the cable. It uses the same pads just a mechanical means to operate it.
Not sure if thats any help to your plans. I like your setup. Jan

How can a driveshaft e-brake not pass? There are thousands of trucks out there with them!!! I did some work on a '95 S-series International 5 ton with hydraulic brakes that had one, so it's not just old trucks either.

Sorry Alan I should have read what I typed. I wanted to hook up a pinion brake using my hydro brake lines. it had to be a cable or lever system. Now early trucks that came with line locks only, no secound system are OK as that was then and this is now. I think he was concerned should I get hauled in on a DOT check.

yeah, no hyd. on the e-brake, period. I want to see the TMS setup.
270deg. of the rear rotor is free on my setup to fit nuther set of calipers, hopefully enough. Maybe PA has something.
I don't need sye, if I did I'd put a disc at the tcase.
I think line lock is a good idea, no matter the legality for inspection. It will hold the rig just fine sans parking brake. I bet you could lock the line with no pressure and then tag the front brakes on and do smokey burnouts, too.

Ford E350 mod to fit xj booster. -drilled out holes to 5/8" to get the booster studs to pass thru -ground off mat'l outside the bolt holes so it would fit in the pocket in the booster. I'm installing master/booster tommorrow. can't wait to biff the abs pump and all the space it consumes.

well, judging by the views, I'm not talking to myself, so I'll continue...... E350/booster in: img56.exs.cx/img56/7274/dec1904008.th.jpg[/IMG] I'm gonna try without a prop. valve, some guys in the states on the big ZJ/WJ board aren't using one, and it's totally fine. If not, Andre hooked me up with a zj rear disc one to try. (And a freebie booster ;D - THX dude!)
