Whats a good height for a work bench? plan on making one this weekend.. 8'(maybe 10') x 2' x ?

got 3/4" plywood for the top then topping that with some stainless steel

it also needs to be strong enough to slam a Willys into. Wow, that could be read a whole different way than intended I think... edit: On topic: I actually found a manual for this. For your kind of work (heavy work, where downward force may need to be applied), set the work surface at approx 12" below your elbows when standing. If I went by there standards my work bench would be 30" high.. which is a bit to low for me..i'd be bent over working all the time..i'm thinking 38-40 inches would be perfect

i think our main bench is around 42" maybe higher. used for layout, close inspection, teardown of gearboxes, ect... at the same time, we have some 36" ones for hammer work lol
