Big 6, It was minus 18 here overnight......have to get a report from the Pa. Yeah, he went in this morning at 5:30, and it wasn't even on....was fully up to the set temp no problem at all. Will be curious to see the annual heating cost now....

I have an old furnace from a mobile home, but the controls on top of the pump let go one day...I am sure the pump itself is fine, but what ever that box is on top of it is fried...never picked up another pump or tried to find out if I could get a new part for the top of it.

I know for a fact that the only difference between furnace oil and diesel is the dye they put in furnace oil.
They don't want ya burnin' furnace oil in vehicles because of taxes, and that's how they keep it seperate.

well i installed a 5000W overhead unit heater. will post some pics later.
pretty happy with it. haven't been working out there on a real cold day yet, but its holding 5deg barely coming on. the difference in the "chill" is was better. its subjective to describe, but having the workbench and tools all the same temp as the air really makes a nice difference.
will be installing ceiling fan for sure.

the unit. 5000W $334 plus tax at Harris and Roome, was in stock. shopping around may get a better price, i got it at 3pm New Years Eve. only place open. lol mounted to a rafter, its only 20lbs. face towards a wall to circulate along the walls on the shop. a circular flow will heat evenly. i aimed it at the middle of the shop at first, and it wasn't as good. might as well follow the directions first, eh? Tdog install - t-stat and overhead fan switch.

it is very quiet! not any sort of an issue. hold a normal conversation without raising your voice.
Calender is vintage Mike MacLean Trucking, Sydney. my dad got some old pics made into a calender. its a Chev. old limestone truck, there were a wack of them from a fleet down in Cape, lots turned into local O/O dumptrucks. Its hauling slag out of the steel plant in that photo - circa '85, rig is mid-70's i think.
good eye.

I have an old house that was added on to to make a barn after the new house was built back in the 40's. its 22' x 40' no insulation, sliding doors. I am going to do this project in the spring and summer to have it all hooked up for next winter. run baceboards off it. www.windstuffnow.com/main/vawt.htmonce I put it all togeather it will run me about 12 to 1500.oo but I will never pay for heat again in the garage.
