There it is. One afternoon at 40% relative humidity, 21-22 deg. (best case around here) compressor was drained before starting work, last drained the day before and used the plasma for an hour or so. drain everyday! hope this makes it more clear. imagine NOT draining this much everyday....the tank will literally fill with water.

I never gave it a thought with my on board air system. After reading your post I'm thinking I really should see if there's anything to drain. Y'know there are filter and dryer units available; www.summitracing.com/parts/DVR-130525/But likely not affordable for the home setup.

Hey! No water pics! ;D
I never get a lot out of my compressor, but it is upstairs in the garage and it is hot as hell up there. Not a great place for extended usage but dry.
My OBA setup gets a lot of water/oil snot, coalescing filter gets some and the tank has a bottom blowoff/drain that undercoats the inside of the jeep when I drain it.

Depends a lot on the compressor. My 3 cyl doesn't put much water in the tank. Horizontal tank is supposed to be better than vertical tank too.

I don't follow the logic there Alan. curious tho, i wonder what the difference is. the water is coming from the air, you live here in NS with the rest of us, same relative humidity's, same water content in the air you are compressing. I don't understand why tank orientation would have anything to do with it either. same surface area for the moisture to condensate on. anyone know?

My 100g tank with 10hp twin compressor doesn't get much water either, drain it maybe once every two weeks, even then maybe a cup of water comes out??

weird, I can get a cup a day.
But then again, you guys can blow it out your air tools without noticing too much, whereas I ruin a $15 consumable set on the plasma and screw up a part. you notice!

drained mine on the weekend, 2hp, 26gal and got maybe a half cup from the compressor tank and another half cup out the bottom of the PA dryer - probably first time in 3 months
