So ever since my power problems last year I have been searching for a total home energy monitor but one that does each breaker..well I finally found one from a company in Ontario called Brultech (www.brultech.com). After talking with them for a bit I figured out what I wanted to monitor and what I needed. Ordered it all up and got to install some of it last night.
So with it running for just over 12 hours now, I can see what is using what while I am away, what the spikes are caused from, etc etc.
Right now I have it set up to use there online database and that is forwarded to google powermeter..but there are a few better software programs out there where I can see the amps, volts and watts, once I get my last monitor in I will get one of those set up.
Here is an example of one of the graphs you get on there basic page:
In this one you can see my main power took a spike:
Which I can see on this graph it was my water pump coming on:
But my water pump should not be coming on through out the day since no one is home, so that tells me I am loosing water somewhere..leaking tap, toilet, could be a loose check valve in the pump..now I just need to find that.
It also send the info to google power meter which gives u graphs like this:
So with this set up I now Monitor:
FC Device:
CH 1 – 200 amp main feed
Ch 2 – 100 amp Garage feed
Aux 1 – 240v Water Heater
Aux 2 –Basement Fans, Lights, Right half of basement, lights, plugs, bar lights, left half of basement Utility, Closet, Under Stairs
Aux 3 – 240v Crawl Space Heat
Aux 4 – Bed lights bath, Master plugs, bed plugs, whirlpool
Aux 5 – HRV Unit
FD Device:
CH 1 – Clothes Dryer
CH 2 – Stove
Aux 1 – 240v water pump
Aux 2 – 240v Front Bed Heat
Aux 3 – 240v Master bath heat
Aux 4 – Washer
Aux 5 – Hall & bath, outside lights kitchen dining room lights, Nook, living entry front door light–
FE Device:
Ch 1 – 240v Dining Kitchen Heat
Ch 2 – 240v Living room heat
Aux 1 – 240v basement heat
Aux 2 – Counter3, Counter2
Aux 3 – Fridge, Dishwasher
Aux 4 – Counter,
Aux 5 – Outside plugs, lamp post
Now I can monitor everything and see where the power is going and what I can do to reduce the consumption of it.
