Well its pretty simple but effective. I have a small attached garage so I need to make room during the warmer months and the hard top was taking up way to much space. Princess auto had a 440lb electric hoist onsale for $99 and I had some 2x4's and threaded rod for mounting. I braced it across 4 truces in the garage attic to handle the weight. Pics are from my iphone and my hand wasn't very steady. In the winter time when the hard top is on the jeep I plan on using it to hang my deer during hunting season! Awesome, definitely a better setup than I used to have with 4 pulleys, lol. Might want to do a safety tether in case something happens with the winch etc... I like that it's dual purpose too

Good idea MFR, i'm gonna get some aircraft cable from PA for a safety line. I don't want my deer to drop on the floor while im working on it, or if I decide to hang the wife up if she is misbehaving hah!

You just gave me a great idea. I made an impulse buy the other day, I bought a small 3,000 lb 12v winch and now I have a use for it.
I'll use your idea & pics to rig up something so I can remove my own hardtop by myself.
