Great idea. I wish my garage ceiling was high enough for me to remove mine like that and keep it up out of the way and still be able to pull in a vehicle under it.

That's the same way I do the old CJ hard top, I use a cloth line pulley and cable.

nice idea, thats a hell of alot cheaper then some of the systems iv ceen for sale that use metal bars and clamps instead of straps

That's the same way I do the old CJ hard top, I use a cloth line pulley and cable. Yet it doesn't seem to be used with the TJ though...or at least not this year, but I bet it will be used from now on for both won't it Roy...lolol.

Palmbreeze told me about climbing in the back of the Jeep, lifting the roof up on his back and taking it off that way. I considered it, but not for long

When that didn't work I did it myself.

I made a stand out of 2x4 bolted to the side of my shed that was the same height as the body of the TJ, made it a little better because I could slide it and then bolted the roof to the stand

Great job...although Eddie (Subigon) built a really nice one years back using an electric motor and worked like a charm!!
If a guy were to build one I would go to CT this week where they have a 3000 electric winch for sale for $59. it comes with the cable and a snatchblock to run off the ceiling...I would think it would make this a really easy project...
