Couldn't tell ya...... I told the guy what i was making, he knew what it was, and recommended this pipe. Said it had thicker walls than others. 14 gauge...0.083". A poor recommendation for bumper work. you need to know that it has no structural value if it is just exaust tubing, its a decoration and winch cable holder only. It will push alders out of the way is about all. For reference the pipe I use for bending stingers and cages is 1.5" sch.40 with a wall thickness of .145". you can bang into stuff with it. If you nose your rig into something, the stinger will fold, probably down just above the welds. 'looks' ok tho, if that's all you were after. but I can't help but throw some tech in this converation.

I ran onto a guardrail last winter on mine and she only suffered a small dent where it rode up over the rail. Totally saved the front end man. Looks and function.

Maybe we'll try a do-over with heavier pipe.

Looks great good job! I wouldn't be to worried about it not being strong unless you are doing a lot of steep grades. I would say most jeeps running these don't ever put them to the use they're made mostly for looks. Plus as Roadtripper mentioned it makes an awesome reference point!

yeah, I wouldn't go hacking it off. just that you need to know not to bang into stuff for fun. you'll be dissappointed in the outcome.

I think I could stand my Jeep up on mine. well that's the point of them. to save your rad in a roll by not letting the hood crush down, or to keep you from flipping head over heels. I hope to never find out, to be really honest. On street driven rigs they are more for looks. This one looks nice, so don't go cutting it off, just be aware it isn't going to do much in a 'situation'.

That's why I got mine. I almost did an endo in the green TJ in NB one year. Was not partial to the look at first but now am liking it and am glad I have it.

I hope to never find out, to be really honest. you have already found out. Now you just have to hope you don't need it.

Lol. Right on man. The guys are giving you some excellent advice. You obviously have the mad welding skillz to put the stinger on, might not be a bad idea to put something more solid on there if you do decide to redo it. You would be far from the first person to redo something to make it better.

Normal prep, sand & grind. I didn't prime, but it definitely wouldn't hurt. It's EZ Liner from CT. Nothing fancy. I used about a can. 4 Coats.
