Got a new problem anyways, I bought a tank from a fire supression system off Kijiji, had a solenoid activated dump valve. Sent it away a couple times to get re valaved. No go as they didn't like the look of the valve. So I took the valve off myself....now they won't touch it since it has no valve. First time was BOC the second was Air Liquid. Any thoughts........ First Time it looked like this (BOC) Second Time Looked Like this (Air Liquid)

buy a proper valve?
The safest way to recieve a pressure vessel would be the 2nd pic.

Yes I agree with you. That is what led to me taking the valve off. Supposedly you send them to Montreal (Linde) Moncton (Air Liquid) to be checked out and have a valve installed......
supposed to be a simple process.

I just did that exact thing to CO2 bottle I aquired with a MIG welder. The bottle had to be recertified as well.Praxair told me it couldn't be done. Air Liquide can do it but don't count on the bottle coming back when they say it will. Took them over a month on top of the 4 weeks they told me it would take to get the bottle back.

If you want to use metal core wires try and stay with a shielding gas with less than 10% CO2. Higher CO2 can lead to hidden porosity and in some cases a weaker weld.
