I'm still working on my power brake conversion, hopefully it will work as well as yours. Biggest problem I've run into is rod length between master and booster, think I got it now. I didn't run the YJ stuff because I read online that YJ owners were upgrading to something better. Sounds like I should have just went with it.
I put in an adjustable fan controller and it didn't last more than a couple runs, I have it wired to the ignition again. Just something to watch for.

If I planned on running bigger tires or larger axles with bigger brakes I think it would be better off looking into a bigger booster as well. I already had this stuff so it was a free and easy upgrade for me. What brand of fan controller did you have? This one is flexalite. It has a one year warranty and I haven't really read anything bad about them?

To be fair it died on the trail and I never tried it in a cup of hot water to see if I could get it to work. I had it run through a relay so I just jumpered the relay to come on with the ignition.

Very interesting to hear yours failed. I'll keep an eye on this one. I mounted it above the headlight but it would be easy to bypass it if need be.

the one everyone wants is the '95 booster and master cylinder. they had a double-diaphragm booster, unlike the earlier with the single diaphragm. the master cylincer is also better, with a 1" bore, rather than a 15/16" bore.
I'm certain braking will be much better with any power brakes, but the best one to upgrade to is the '95 set-up.

Larger master bore diameter on the same size brake calipers/cylinders DROPS the pressure at the wheel.
'Better' relating to master diameter, depends on what you are trying to do. Bigger is not better, it can be worse.
You swapped in waggy stuff, your volumes got bigger at the wheel , and you could probably use a larger bore diameter or an E350.
On the CJ I'm working on, the brakes all stayed the same. So I need the smaller stock master pre95. Alan gave the tip earlier that the late CJ brakes are similar to the early YJ. caliper and mount look almost exactly the same.....so i used that early YJ master. If I used 95, I'd have reduced pressure at the wheel.
Davidson's rig is using stock brakes on stock axles as well, so the smaller master/booster he chose should work good.
Simply adding a larger master to a stock brake system makes the pedal high and hard, and has low pressure at the wheel and you can't stop very good.

Just got in from a short test down the road. Stopping distances are way shorter with no effort on the pedal. I am pleased with the performance. It's a little rough and wanders over the really choppy uneven pavement but drives completely straight on a flat surface. The swaybar bushings are toast and I have a set of nitro 8000 shocks to toss on the front end to hopefully fix that up.

Haven't done anything too serious with this thing lately. Mounted a mirror on the windshield and tidied up some more wiring stuff. Decided to change my bumper to an old chrome one off my old jeep instead of the really beat up black one that was on it. I think I'm going to trim off the ends a bit. Also test fit winch. Does the grill look as weird now mr.skinnypedalman ? lol

Ended up trimming the bumper to this size. CB ended up here for now but I'm not a big fan so far and think I would rather have it under the dash. Also swapped over an old set of nitro 8000s I had on the front. Broke the swaybar mount off trying to remove the bolts to change the links, so gotta fix that eventually too.

Checking the steering stabilizer to see what kind of shape its in. Still looks good but was coming into contact with diff cover on full turn right. Might be able to move the mount underneath instead. Also added warn diff cover guard on d30 and trimmed the side off for more space for the stabilizer. Of course I broke one of the little ubolts removing it so I gotta get a new one.

Got a set of rear nitro 8000's on there now as well. Flexin out a bit on a little hill to check everything for clearances. Only bumpstops right now are the uncut ubolts on the front and they went right up and touched the frame. lol The steering just seems to touch leaf spring when the pass tire is fully compressed. Hoping to get away with it like this with some sort of proper bumpstops added. These skinny swampers come nowheres near rubbing anything which is what I hoped for. Of course it took this time to spring a couple new leaks, power steering return line and radiator. Always somethin I guess.

No updates in a while. Was heating up a little warm for my liking driving on the streets on hot days with the winch on it... 220ish idling around. So today I started to swap the radiator out for a nice aluminum one. Here is the old one out: New one in place. Fits nicely. Looks like taurus fan is going to be too thick to use so I'm gonna just try the half broken fan that was on it with the cj rad. I suspect it should work ok. And flipped the mangled up trans cooler so its not blocked by the winch.
