Its all on-line at probender.com and TMR for dies. They have good shipping estimates right to your door.
the border was an additional $125 for brokerage USPS. i asked for USPS specifically.

Seems there is a design flaw. www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=959765I got the same thing going on. Can't fit the die drive pin into the die to bend, have to put a pin in the u-strap clamp and bend 15deg, then repin the die and put the clamp on. This is really disappointing. My homemade Got Trikes worked way nicer than this.

I sent an email asking to exchange the dies for the redesigned ones mentioned in the pirate link. And that I didn't feel I should have to pay shipping. Have to see how it goes.

Seems that they just sent him directions to use the pin in 2 spots ......$hitty when you pay that much for a tool that doesn't work properly .

Here is the die at the loading position. you can't pin it to bend. you have to put the pin on the front of the arms, and pin the u-strap hole that is supposed to be used to hold the pipe in place. Here is the pin in the proper die hole. the pipe has to be bent to approx 15deg by this point to get the pin in. Then you can get the clamp on. i don't know how the fawk you are supposed to do a multi-plane bend where you need to clamp before you bend. Disappointing to say the least. Probender guy is going to check with Protools die supplier about what they are going to do. Monday i'll call them I guess, i'm not expecting anything over the weekend. i only contacted them Friday.

Been on the phone with probender and protools. They each have their own reasons why this has happened, but were pretty straight forward to speak to. Pro-Tools will take the dies back and make me ones that fit, and Pro-Bender will pay for the shipping (if Pro-Tools doesn't) since he admits this is a functional flaw and he was the retailer. Seems to be some politics at play between the two vendors, they are competetors and partners at the same time. I'm sending the dies back today.

Thx Bill. lol I didn't feel as tho I would get the shaft on the phone. The problem is recognized and its not just me having it.
I can take a problem and deal with it, but the shit is so heavy I'd get killed on shipping to the tune of hundreds by the time these things cross the continent a few more times.
I just want the shipping covered as if I was sent the right thing the first time, I should not incurr expense for the exchange. i don't care who pays for it. Let them work it out.

Well the dies made their way back to ProTools, and I sent in an email explaining my position this morning, to coincide with the dies arriving back there. ProTools called a short time later and offered to exchange the dies for a new design, and explained/apologized for the problem. I had asked for a quote on another die, since I figured get 'em all shipped at once and save some shipping money...ProTools went over the top in making sure I was pleased and offered the 3rd die for free for my troubles!!! Its a pricey one too. They were very eager to fix the problem and easy to communicate with both by phone and email. Both companies were now on the same page with my problem and worked together to fix it. Probender is going to pick up the cost of the shipping, and has already refunded my cost to return the dies to ProTools. Like, within an hour of today's contact, and without seeing a reciept. So I guess after getting over the initial disappointment, this is all gonna work out pretty good, I'm glad I was dealing with reputable vendors from Pirate4x4. And of course, They are going to fix the problem with the die compatibility going forward. ProTools offering a free die was just fantastic to make me happy and smooth over the issue. They didn't have to do that. Maybe end of next week i'll see the dies I guess.

Wow good to hear Jan. This is above and beyond for customer satisfaction, Im sure you post on Pirate what a good experience you had with these vendors. That in itself is worth a lot in promotion for them and their business and product's.

Pro-Tools has been in touch again today......they got the dies modified this week, and sent mine out today. Just gotta be patient now....and hope the American border doesn't shut down due to their failing government. I've got two nice rigs sitting in the yard waiting for bending work, can't wait to get at it.
