some quick pics of my new shop.... it was a bit pricy, but it came with a house and 2.2 acers, so it was worth it ;D and one of the house the closeing is june 8th, then the work begins, some new flooring and paint throughout the house and a complete wiring of the shop then we should be moved in by the end of june. it really puts a hold on my buggying for this season but i couldn't pass it up. i still should have the buggy going for the valley crawl but no sooner... ;D

Awesome Mike!!!!
You've been wanting your own place for a while. Nice sunroom on the back there. First cinderblock shop on the forum I think. Is it insulated?
i lol'd at the square bush and evergreen by the shop. Just your style. Keep 'em trimmed up nice. lol
congrats.

the shop is pretty bare. no lights, just an opener on one door with a light on that... but it does have a sink with running water ;D the wife is very happy for that part, she seems to think i make the bathroom sink dirty ;D I'm not sure how I'm going about insulating it yet. this year it will probility just get the ceiling done and covered with thin OSB. and leave the walls for this winter. if it turns out too cold i think I'll just Styrofoam and strap it with the thin OSB over that. i wanted to put a wood stove in it, but the insurance company dosn't like that idea, so its either an after insurance deal, or i might put a oil forced air furnace in there. if it was all insulated and had insulated bay doors i would put 2 electric units in there but its not.... ;D time to start looking for some shop tools and most important, a big tool chest ;D man i can't wait to move in.... ;D

Congrats on the shop, and the house too. I'm guessing the house has all the usual stuff. I'd be inclined to insulate the outside, styrofoam with the cutouts for strapping and vinyl siding right over that. Vinyl doesn't need the wall to be sheathed. Then the inside is fireproof, and once it's up to temperature the concrete holds some heat.

Jeff it can be in the garage when it needs work ;D other than that there is a 2.2 acre parking lot for the ship... ;D the first winter will be just the ceiling insulated. then we will see how well it heats and go from there next year ;D

I agree with Hawks , true foam the outside , vinyl or even parge it block will keep the heat better inside and saves from more expense of fireproofing , wire in conduit .
